Chapter 7 - Raceway running

After cleaning himself up properly and replacing towels, 'he' went and sat on the couch in Roxy's room. Her room was a little messy. This would not do. So he tidied up a bit. After all, people would come in this room to meet Roxy, so it had to look good. After about fifteen minutes, he had finished to his satisfaction and returned to the couch. Some time after, Roxanne walked in.

Roxy: "Hey, ar- did you tidy my room?"

'Him': "Yea, sorry, I just get like that sometimes. I swear I have conditional OCD."

Roxy: "No, no, it looks nice, thank you."

'Him': "That's good."

Roxy: "Anyway, I need help in the raceway. Could you come with me?"

'Him': "How do I get there without being chased?"

Roxy: "Utility tunnels."

'Him': "Do you guys use them a lot?"

Roxy: "Yes. All the time. It's the only way to get between the attractions without being stopped a thousand times."

'Him': "Makes sense."

Roxy: "Come on, let's go.

'Him': "Right you are."

As the pair were walking, 'he' grinned. Roxy noticed this.

Roxy: "What you smiling at?"

'Him': "If you must know, I heard the door close."

Roxy: "What are you on about?"

'Him': "Did you like the view I presume you saw?"

Roxy: "What do you... oh. You didn't see me, did you?"

'Him': "No, but I did hear the door close."

Roxy: "Uh hmm well uh what do yo... fine, I saw you. Only the top half, though."

'Him': "I was just curious. I'm not bothered about it so you can relax."

Roxy: "Well, not really."

'Him': "Why not?"

Roxy: "There is a leaderboard in the raceway that displays the times on it. I'm second overall, and I worry that people are going to question me about it."

'Him': "Ah. Can you edit the leaderboard?"

Roxy: "Yes, but I don't want to remove your time because it feels unfair."

Arriving in the raceway, the board did indeed say that Roxy was second.

'Him': "Is that your best ever time?"

Roxy: "Yes."

'Him': "Ok, how do you edit it?"

Roxy: "One of the computers in the office."

'Him': "Let's see what we can do."

Roxy: "The attractions don't open until half an hour after the front doors."

'Him': "Gives us some time."

'Him': "Well, there are the times. Let me just do a quick change. There we go."

Roxy: "Did you delete it?"

'Him': "No, I hid it, so you can't see it on the board, but it's still on the system."

Roxy: "Oh ok good."

'Him': "Anything else you need help with?"

Maybe asking that might have been a mistake. There was a lot to do, and it wasn't easy to stay out of sight. Roxanne was struggling to keep up and was in a bit of a state. 'He' was doing his best behind the scenes. Karts kept breaking. Karens being annoying. Children having accidents. It was chaos. Still, could be worse, and then it was worse because someone decided to snoop around and came face to face with 'him'
