"Don't you just pop up in the most random places? What are you doing?" I asked Liam. His orange fur shook gently in the wind before he transformed into his half-wolf form.

"Here to scout. Don't like the smell," he simply replied. Sierra made her way back to spot too, circling the area a few times

"You too?" Liam directed his question toward Sierra.

The rustling leaves in the wind made me look up and do a small twirl. It felt good to be back in nature like this. I placed my hand on the bark; I focused on my surroundings. I could hear, see, smell everything again. I opened my eyes and took my hand from the bark and when I looked behind me, there was Valkon.

"Was there a story on there?" He joked.
I was shocked to see him. "Why? Why are you here?" Now it made sense. I could only do those things when he was near.

"I need to explain," he pleaded.
"No need," I said with crossed arms. I could feel my heart pulsing and before I knew it, my teeth were inserted deep into Valkon's throat and I could feel my power calling to me. Telling me to reach out and grab it.

So I did. I felt a painful rush take over me; my lungs felt like they were closing in on me and I couldn't breathe. I collapsed to dirty leaves on the ground and bumped my head against the roots of the tree before I sank into the depths of darkness once again.

"Take me," my wolf welcomed me. "Take me now."

"Wake up," I heard someone say. "Wake up," my world was slightly shaken. I opened my eyes and there was Elias with his big blues asking me if I was okay.

"Yeah," I rubbed my head. "Think I hit my head kind of hard."

"I can see that. You're bleeding," Eli's panicked. He scooped me in his arms and took me back to the packhouse to the medic.

"I'm fine," I insisted with my ice bag. "Go hunt," I tried to convince Elias. "I'm okay, really."

"No you're not," he argued. "What happened out there?"

"I don't know. One minute I was enjoying nature and the next thing I know, I see you asking if I'm okay." I answered truthfully.

"How'd blood get on your face?" Elias asked.
"Must have dripped down from my head, I guess?" I answered to the best of my ability.

"That blood definitely wasn't yours," he stated in a serious tone.
"What do you mean?" I hated when he didn't say things directly.

"It's nothing. I'll be back soon. I rushed here with still many things to do. Think you'll be okay until I come back? You won't faint again, right? You feel okay?" his cerulean eyes held such worry for me and my heart melted at his concern.

"I'm fine," I shooed him with my hands. "Go."
"I'll be back soon," Elias promised.

The sound of the door swinging back and forth eventually stopped after Elias left. I sighed and flopped back onto my pillow and let the ice envelop my throbs.

I closed my eyes and tried recalling what just happened in the forest. I touched my face and thought long and hard. I thought about Liam and Sierra and then I gasped as I shot up.

"Is something wrong?" The doctor rushed over to me.
"It's nothing. I have news for Elias is all. I should get some rest. Do you have pain meds?" I asked.

"Sure thing," he nodded with his nose spread and went to retrieve my request. His gray hair swung in the wind.

When I was sure he was gone, I called out to Val.
"Are you here? Can you hear me?" I waited but no answer. "I guess not."

The memories rushed in and I felt the throbbing come to a halt for a split second. "Valkon," I cursed him. What did he do to me? I touched my teeth and sure enough, my fangs were there.

"How are you feeling?" My wolf startled me.
"No way," I gasped. "It's been years."
"I was dormant while your powers were stripped. I couldn't reach you so I've been in a slumber," my wolf said. "Good to be back. I've healed your head."

I took the ice away and felt for blood; I looked to my hand and didn't see anything. It felt normal again, no throbbing or any sign of pain.

"If you're back does that mean my other powers are back?" I attempted to conjure a fire ball in my hand but failed.

"I guess not," I frowned.
"Wait a while," my wolf comforted me. "I'm going to sleep for a while." And then my wolf went dead silent. Must have been tired from being returned to me.

If I had my powers back, I could reach out to Elias. I searched through the pack chanel in my mind to call out to Elias. "Ellie," I hummed.

"Kennedi?" He was surprised. "How is this possible?"

"I don't know," I replied through the mind link. "I asked the doctor for some pain medicine and I felt much better. I just attempted to call you and it worked."

"Get some rest. We're almost finished with the hunt. I'll send Liam to check on you while we clean the meat."

"Ok," I laid down and took a few deep breaths. I cleared my mind, forced my confusion away and tuned into thoughts of Evie. I wonder could I summon as I did when I was younger in the forest. It might fail since my attempt to use my wolf powers earlier were a failure. But I did it anyway. And to no avail again.

Maybe I did need some rest. I thought about Sierra and Liam in the back of my mind. I'm glad he was coming to visit soon. I'll ask him if he remembers anything from earlier. I tried to take a nap while I waited.

Just as I began to enjoy wandering into my drowsiness, Liam gently shook me awoke. "Are you going to sleep with no dinner?" He asked seriously.
