2.5 - Sniper

She watched from atop the building, looking through her binoculars. It was such a happy family, that could be destroyed with one twitch of the finger. The finger rested on the trigger of a sniper, but that wasn't her job.

Her job was to merely keep watch on him from a distance, memorize every little detail, movement. She didn't know why she was doing this, but it was all she had ever known for the last few years. Listen to orders from those above you. And that was only two people.

She knew that eventually she'd have to tell them what she knew. Both of them. But she also knew she'd have to pick a side. Her past would catch up with her, or her fears would. She vouched for neither, but knew it was inevitable.

Watching him wave them off, she felt a longing in her chest. An ache. Why hadn't she ever felt, or seen, such an act from a parental figure. Better yet, why doesn't she remember them?
