"We are too busy listening to our thoughts that we don't hear the wonderful sounds surrounding us..."

The school bell rang signaling the end of another meaningless day. No one in the classroom waited for the teacher to dismiss us as we all quickly gathered our things and rushed out of the room eager for freedom from school.

As soon as a stepped out of the classroom, I felt an arm wrap around my shoulder. I turned to see Daniel grinning at me. His brown eyes were bright.

"Guess what," Daniel asked me excitedly. I couldn't help but grin back at him. Since it had been a B-day we hadn't had any classes together and although We had seen each other yesterday it felt like it had been much longer than that.

A lot could change in 24 hours. 24 hours ago I hadn't known I'd spend the afternoon kissing Rebecca at the Park.

"What?" I asked answering Daniel's demand. Somehow his grin got even bigger as we walked out the school doors toward my car. "Soon you'll have one less person to give rides to," Daniel said excitedly as he walked to my passenger side. "And, why's that?" I asked curiously before throwing my bag into the back seat.

Before climbing into my car I turned to look around the crowded high school parking lot. The area was full of cars, buses, and students walking around. My eyes stopped as they landed on a familiar group of girls sitting on the steps of one of the school doors.

As if sensing my gaze, Rebecca turned. Her eyes met mine from across the lot. This time she didn't ignore me. She smiled and waved before turning back to her friends.

Was it lame that a simple wave could make my heart beat so fast it felt like it could fall out of my chest?

"Isn't that awesome!" Daniel exclaimed as I got into the Driver's seat. "What?"

"I said, my mom is giving me the car!" Daniel repeated. "Really?" I asked back in surprise. Daniel wasn't exactly the best driver. He had to take the driving test three times before he passed. And, it wasn't because of lack of practice. Although he and his mom shared her car she let him use it whenever he needed. Daniel just could never shake his nasty habit of hitting curbs.

"Really. I've gotten a lot better at not hitting things," Daniel said proudly. He could say whatever he wanted, but I would never get in a car that he was driving. "That's awesome, man," I replied as I noticed Levi finally making his way out of the school building toward my car.

On B-days, I usually drove all the guys home.

"Heads up, Levi has been in a mood all day," Daniel warned me quickly before Levi opened the back seat door and climbed into the car. He didn't say anything as he knocked our school bags to the floor before laying down across the seats.

"Leave room for Michael." I reminded Levi as I glanced at him through the rearview mirror. His long brown hair covered his face. "Michael isn't coming. He has track practice." Levi replied back to me not missing a beat.

Oh, yeah. I do remember him mentioning something like that in science earlier. I didn't argue before quickly starting the car and carefully leaving the school.

"When did Michael join the track team?" Daniel asked breaking the weird silence. "He's always been on the team. You just suck at remembering things." I shot back.

"That's not true,"

"Yes, it is."

"No, it's not-"

"Will you two just shut up?"  Levi snapped cutting off our bickering. Daniel and I sharing a look.
