"And those who were seen dancing were thought to be insane by those who could not hear the music."

As I held my phone to my ear I paced around my bedroom nervously. I didn't have to wait long for Rebecca to answer. She picked up the call after the second ring.
"Hello?" She asked into the phone her voice ringing like bells in my ear. The phone nearly slipped from my grasp from the sound.
Stay calm, Devon. I reminded myself as I panicked to figure out what to say.
"Hey, it's me, it's Devon." I nearly yelled into the phone.
I should have practiced before calling. No, I shouldn't have called. This was a bad idea. Why did I let Grace talk me into doing this? Abort mission. No, I can't just hang up. She's already answered and now she knows it's me. Damn it.
Rebecca laughed. I could practically hear the smile on her face. "Oh, hey," She said simply. Her voice sounded more excited than when she first answered.
I couldn't help but smile too. "Hey," I repeated dumbly.
"You just said that," She muttered her voice sounding closer as she held her phone to her ear.
"Right,"
She laughed again. "Not that I mind, but did you need something? It's a bit late for a social call, don't ya think?" Rebecca asked curiously.
I looked around my tiny room to my nightstand. My alarm clock read 11:37 pm.
When did it get so late?
"Is it?" I asked trying to play off my obvious guilt for calling her so randomly.
"Yeah, a bit," She answered but she didn't sound annoyed. I could hear rustling through the phone as she moved around on the other end.
"Oh," I mumbled as I walked closer to my bedroom window and look out into the night. I couldn't see the stars. The sky was filled with dark clouds. Small droplets of water chased each other down the glass.
As I watched the water droplets fall the nervousness I felt slowly slipped away with them.
"So, did you need something or-" Rebecca tried again but this time I cut her off.
"It's raining," I pointed out.
It had been raining a lot over the last few weeks. And each time it did, I was reminded of the same thing.
"Huh?" I heard more shuffling as Rebecca moved to check. "I guess it is," Becca said softly. Her voice dropped into a whisper.
"I used to not like the rain. But lately, I'm starting to." I said honestly.
I wonder if she's thinking about the same thing I am.
"You've mentioned. But, why's that?" Becca whispered back to me.
"Well, when it rains all I can think about is you."
Becca didn't respond right away. But when she did, she said "Do you use that line on all the girls?" A playfulness to her voice.
I snorted back a laugh. There aren't any other girls that matter, not the way that she does. "No, it wouldn't be true if I used it on anyone else."
"Well, you should anyway. You'd definitely make all their hearts race."
"Did it make yours?" I asked curiously before I could stop myself. I hope it did.
She didn't answer. Instead, she laughed again. "When did you become so smooth?"
