"When I say I love the silence, I'm not being entirely truthful. What I actually love are the abundant, delicate sounds that amplify when I'm silent. These curious creaks, mutters, and hums compel my imagination."

- Richelle E. Goodrich

"Please," I begged as I shut my locker and turned to Daniel giving him my best puppy dog eyes.

He simply rolled his eyes before turning away from me. "No," He stated calmly as he typed something on his cellphone.

"Please," I begged again.

He sighed before looking at me. "Stop asking because it's not going to happen."

"Please don't make me go alone..." I whined.

"You are the one that needs to study, not me." He said simply as if that was reason enough not to come with me. "We have that class together!" I pointed out.

"True, but the difference is I'm fine failing. It's not my fault you aren't." He said with a shrug.

He couldn't be serious, right now.

"Dani-" I started to argue but he rose his eyebrow stopping me. Now it was my turn to roll my eyes. There was no point arguing with his dumb logic. He already made up his mind and Daniel was the type to stick to a decision no matter how stupid and flawed it was.

"Here's a better idea, neither of us studies and instead we go to my house and hang for a few before meeting the rest of the guys and heading to the party tonight," Daniel suggested hopefully.

"Party?" I asked in confusion. Daniel rolled his eyes. "Levi told us about it at lunch remember? Clement's parents went on some anniversary trip or some shit so he is throwing a party tonight."

I don't even know why I asked. I should have known. Luke Clement's parent's found a reason to be out of town every weekend. So he threw a party every weekend.

"I don't know, Daniel..." I mumbled. I promised my mom I would help watch my sisters.

"You can't back out. You already promised to be our ride for the night."

"No, I didn't. I clearly wasn't even paying attention when you guys were talking about this easier."

"Well, We took your silence as a yes," Daniel said with ease. "I have to babysit while my mom works, I can't. I barely have time to study at the library before I need to run some errands for my mom and get home." I argued.

"No excuses. You'll find a way to make it work, you always do. See you tonight at 9." Daniel said simply ignoring everything I had said before walking away.

"Daniel!" I yelled after him. He ignored me as he continued walking until he turned a corner and was out of sight.

I sighed.

Even if he was my best friend he was such an ass sometimes.

I just wanted him to come to the library with me, it was so boring trying to study by myself. Now I was screwed and I'd have to find a way to get to some stupid party I didn't even want to go to.

I sighed again, I'll just have to take one problem at a time.

My mom was going to kill me if I got another bad grade.

I was trying, I swear. That was the only reason I wanted to study. But, even when I tried to focus I couldn't. My mind would wander off, normally to the same brown-haired girl who had successfully avoided me since our last awkward run-in.
