Leigh woke up the next day feeling happier than usual and it was all to do with one man being back in her life. She knew that he would be going back to New York after the holidays but she didn't stop to think about their limited time together.
She went to work happy. Amy and Jules were shocked to see her happy mood in her classes. It wasn't something that they saw often but they knew it was because of a certain someone. They even noticed that she never had her ring on. She seemed brighter than usual.
"What?" She asked Amy and Jules when the class emptied.
"You seem happy." Amy stated.
"I feel happy." She said as she started to clear up the equipment ready for the next class. "I woke up this morning and I didn't feel heavy. The only way I can explain it is that I feel free. Like I am not bound by my grief anymore."
Both Amy and Jules shared a look knowing that Y/N had to be the reason. And they soon knew because Y/N walked in with four coffees and a bright smile formed on Leigh's face.
"I thought I would bring you hard working ladies some coffee and donuts." He smiled as the three approached him. "I asked my mum for the address." He said sheepishly making the three giggle.
"Well thank you Y/N but Jules and I have some towels to fold." Amy said as she dragged Jules out who was whining. Both Leigh and Y/N shared a confused look.
"Would you like to walk with me?" He asked her as she sighed looking at her watch.
"Yes she will!" Jules shouted before exclaiming in pain as Amy slapped the back of her head.
"I have another class in two hours." She told him as he gave her a smile.
"Well that's plenty of time." He smiled at her.
"I'm sweaty." She countered as he smirked.
"So that's the awful stench." He teased her earning a slap on the shoulder making him laugh. "Come on." He said as she sighed and gave in. They walked side by side until they reached an abandoned park that they used to hang out in.
"Wow, I remember when you broke your arm here. We both got high for the first time and you thought you were invincible." Leigh laughed at the memory.
"God don't remind me." He groaned as she laughed.
"I remember you tried to crawl away from you dad thinking her was Jason from Friday the 13th and he only wanted to get us both in the car and take you to the emergency room." She laughed uncontrollably at the memory.
"Oh my. I remember being grounded for a month and the lecture my dad gave our mums about their private stash not being so private." He told her as she nodded. They both enjoyed talking about their memories and their childhood.
"I remember thinking you would be in my life forever." She said sadly as she remembered the moment he left and never came back.
"I'm sorry I never stayed in touch." He told her softly
"No you were to busy with the Ivy Leagues." She spat harshly. He was taken aback by her sudden change in demeanor.
"It was the best school for me Leigh." He told her. "I wouldn't be a professor at Brown if I didn't go there."
"But you never even visited me. Or your parents." She told him.
"Maybe it wasn't the best idea me coming back here." He said as he stood up. "Maybe it should have been me that died instead of Luke." He said as he walked away from her. She was shocked at what he said and she didn't get up on her feet fasy enough to chase him.
