Scarlett And The Dragon Flame

Scarlett was originally going to be called Ruby or Rose

I was originally going to make Scarlett's name be related to flowers in some way like Daphne and Bloom but I also wanted to have her name tie in somehow with the Dragon Flame. I had no clue how to do this and ended up scrapping the flower theme and just choosing Scarlett.

The chapter "Tree Of Portals" was never meant to be written

After I had written Recovery I had planned that Scarlett was going to meet the rest of the Winx at Obsidian meaning she didn't have to go with them to the Tree of Portals. The chapter in itself doesn't really add much to the story in my opinion. The original scene from the movie didn't include anything to do with Scarlett or Phoenix and the only time that they are mentioned in the chapter is through little fillers. The only reason why this chapter actually made it to being published was because I felt that I needed the extra length and time to explain the events of the previous chapters, Recovery and Attack at Alfea.

Phoenix was never meant to be included in the final battle. He was going to stay with the other boys and Musa.

I didn't really know how I was going to include Phoenix in the Final Battle. I knew that he had to be with Scarlett when their parents were freed (the ending was actually the first bit I planned) but I wasn't going to reunite them until then. But I love how the ending turned out, especially when Obsidian played on Phoenix's worst fear. The unspoken words between them as they saw each other for the first time since their argument was s I sweet. If Phoenix did end up staying with the other guys and Musa, he would've been closer to Riven but he still would've been trapped. Maybe I would've made something dramatic happen, but I don't know because I never got that far in planning that alternate scene.
