"Len. Your parents have passed away." Neru explained.

It was the end of a long day of school.

Earlier, Len was the target of some bullying.
They made fun of his stupidity. They said he was "so dumb that he keeps flunking all of his tests!!"
Which was true... But it was still hurtful.

Later on, in tutoring, Len was frustrated because he just couldn't understand this one concept, no matter how hard he tried.

His phone rang, but the teacher told him to turn it off.

The one time everything was quiet.
It shouldn't have been.
Because then he would have heard the news earlier.

After the session was done, Len waited for his parents to pick him up, like usual.

Since they were taking a longer time to get him than normal, Len played around with the cellphone he had with him.
To be honest, he barely knew how to use it.
It was shared between himself and Rin, but Rin used it more often. It was filled with apps he had never heard of.
However, when Len had tutoring, Rin was forced to give him the phone so he could call home if necessary.

Or, someone could call him, if necessary.

He noticed a missed call and a voicemail from Neru, so he listened to the voicemail.

It sounded like Neru was on the brink of tears.

"Look, your mom and dad got into a car wreck like an hour ago. Like, a really bad one. It's on the news and everything." Neru explained. "I'll see if Haku can pick you up... I don't know yet. Just hang tight. Call me back."

The shock Len felt was overwhelming.

He sat down and pushed the phone away.
He sat in silence for a while, processing what Neru had said.

It was all too difficult.
Everything in life is too hard to process and understand.
Everything is too noisy and bright.

Len was caught in a wave of sadness, and he felt like he was drowning in it.

After all that's happened that day, Len could do nothing but cry.
