Haku awoke in the middle of town.
People walked, jogged, ran, drove, and biked past, seemingly indifferent to her presence.
She was confused.
"What the hell just happened? Was that real? Did Len really just...?"The sun was setting, and streaks of pink and orange decorated the sky.
The stars began to peek through.Haku floated through town, trying to see if anyone noticed her.
No one did.
As it got darker, the amount of people out began to dwindle, as the streetlights flickered on and everyone began to travel back home.
To them, it was just a normal summer Thursday night.
To Haku, it was a life-ending event.Literally.
As Haku floated around, she saw people she recognized.
Friends.
Old classmates.
Families.
Children. Some of them were around the same age as Len.
They could be his classmates; Haku was pretty sure some of them were.
They were all socializing, walking around, eating, using their phones, laughing, and having fun together.
They were all fundamentally the same as Len, but with one clear difference.
They're all happy and normal.
What went so wrong with Len's development?!
Haku was filled with anger.
Why was Len so messed up? Why was Len the one who turned out deranged? Why did HE have to be the one specific kid who went crazy??
Why couldn't the green girl be the murderer? Or the one with the recorder? What about the one with the hat that had eyes?!
"It just HAD to be Len, didn't it?!" Haku yelled.
Of course, no one heard her.
This frustrated her even more.
