Saturday, 3rd December:

Leo: 5; Aiden: 2; Rosalie: 2; Toby: 1

"It's decorating day!", Amelia sang when she walked into the living room with Toby in her arms. While Aiden and Rosalie were chasing each other around the coffee table, Leo was playing with Lego in his room and Owen had brought in the boxes with all their Christmas stuff. "And mama would be thrilled if her little munchkins were careful around those boxes because we kind of need the decorations.", she softly told the toddlers and stopped them from running.

"I wanna help!", Leo yelled as he ran inside after hearing his mother say those words. "Grandma!", he excitedly exclaimed when he heard somebody unlock the door and since his parents were both in sight, it could only be Evelyn. "Are you helping us too?"

"Of course, I am.", the grey-haired woman answered and picked the boy up to kiss his head before she did the same thing with all three of her other grandkids. "Especially since there are three little babies running around and we don't want any of the decorations to break.", she chuckled.

"Thank you for coming, Mom.", the trauma surgeon smiled at his mother and hugged her before his wife did so too. "I think we can still set up the little fence to make them a play area because I don't trust my little monsters.", he said and grinned at the three small children who laughed because they were happy to see their father smile.

"I love that they're still too young to understand that you just insulted them and are just joyful about the fact that you are grinning.", the brunette joked. "You can get started and I will busy them until they all found something to play with.", she decided. "Leo, do you wanna add the top of the Christmas tree?", she asked her son, who nodded.

"I'm gonna lift you up to do so then.", her husband addressed the five-year-old. "But first, we have to decorate everything else. I'll give you one ornament at the time and tell you where to put it, alright?"

"Yes, Daddy!", the little blonde agreed with a huge smile on his face. "Let's get started, we don't have much time.", he figured, although it was the weekend. But maybe one of his parents had to work later. Since they were doctors, he knew how fast they could get called in to the hospital, even on their days off.

"And I will get started on the Christmas tree, but of course I won't touch its top.", Evelyn announced and calmed down her grandson, who had been on the verge of protesting because the top ornament had been assigned to him just a moment ago.

"Mama, me hep (help)!", Aiden offered a piece of mind, standing at the fence and staring at his family members, who were having fun without him. "Mama!", he whined as he trotted back over to his mother and grabbed her arm to pull her with him.

"You are too small to help us, Honey.", Amelia pouted at the little boy. "In a few years you can help too, but right now you would think of the decorations as toys and we cannot have that.", she explained. "Look, there's many toys in here."

"Me has one.", Rosalie informed her same-aged brother and held up a colorful plush bear that sang when somebody squeezed its belly. "Toby too.", she added, pointing at the one-year-old, who was playing with some blocks.

"See? Everyone is having a lot of fun and you can have fun too.", her mother pointed out to the little redhead that was still clinging to her arm, disappointed that he wasn't considered a great helper. "And this afternoon, when mommy is bored, she is going to need you to help her by playing with her.", she let him know.

"Reawy (really)?", Aiden wanted to know with big eyes, not sure if she meant it, but very ready to be his mama's little helper whenever she needed him to be. She nodded. "Yeah!", his face lit up and he clapped.

"Mommy and daddy are going to need all four of their little helpers.", his father joined the conversation since they wanted to go to a playground after their snack this afternoon. "Because two adults cannot handle life without at least four kids."

"And since we are exactly four, each one of us has even more to do to be able to help you two, right?", Leo concluded, watching his parents nod. "Grandma, do you need help as well?"

"Not today, but on other days, definitely.", the grey-haired woman responded and gently tapped the five-year-old's nose. "Now let's continue with the decorations, otherwise we won't be able to finish putting everything up today."

"Are you staying for lunch?", Owen asked his mother. "We are having sausages shaped like octopuses together with baby carrots and mashed potatoes, so feel free to stay. I think the children would be super happy to have you around a little longer."

"I'd love to stay.", Evelyn replied. "Then each one of us can get one of the smaller children down for their nap before it's Leo's turn.", she figured and smiled. "I think that is a great plan."
