"Alrighty, go and wash your hands, so I can clean the table.", Amelia announced to the children while Owen grabbed a wet dishcloth to clean the twins' hands before he went into the office to get the window color stuff.
Together, the couple had prepared a few Christmassy and winterly pictures for the kids to paint, which were supposed to be the decoration for the windows. Luna and Lucas weren't old enough to actually realize what they had to do, so their parents were going to help them color a snowflake each.
The other three children were allowed to choose between a few different templates. There were gifts, some animals, Santa, a plate of Christmas cookies and so on. The family would probably do this another time if it went well.
"Could I color Santa?", Logan wondered. Something, his parents had hoped for since that was one of the harder templates and their oldest son had the most patience out of all their children. "And maybe I'll do another picture after."
"Sounds great.", Owen agreed, handing the boy some of the stuff he needed. "Which color are you going to start with?", he questioned as he simultaneously felt his daughter embrace him out of the blue. "Hey, Honey.", he smiled and hugged her back. "What do you wanna color?"
"I don't really know.", the eight-year-old indecisively sighed. If she could have, she would have colored every single template there was, but she knew she had to pick either one or two pictures for today.
"I need red first, please.", her big brother answered his father's question and reached for the bottle, which the redhead gave him. "Thanks.", he smiled. "Layls, how about this baby-reindeer? That's cute, right?", he softly suggested to his little sister, who grabbed it to take a closer look.
"Yeah.", Layla agreed cutely. "I would like to color this one.", she informed her parents, who both nodded. "Mama, can I get the dark brown, please?", she politely asked and waited for her mother to hand it to her.
"Me wanna!", Luna complained, bored since nobody was giving a color to her and her siblings were already getting started on their pictures. "Me!", she said again and reached for the blue. Lucas was currently just watching the situation unfold.
"Could you help her?", her mother wanted to know from her husband. "I'm gonna go search for Leo since she isn't coming back.", she added, causing him to chuckle and nod. He knew his kid, she had probably stumbled over some toy that she hadn't played with in a while and now, she wanted to do that.
"Sure.", the trauma surgeon said. Thankfully, their smallest son wasn't really interested in beginning with his own piece of art yet, which meant it was less stressful to deal with one of the twins instead of both of them at the same time.
"Leo? Sweetie, where are you?", Amelia looked for the toddler, but she wasn't in the downstairs bathroom, so she climbed up the stairs to glance into any other bath they had, not finding her there either. "Leo?"
"I'm here, Mama.", the four-year-old replied, now that she had heard her mother call her. "I am re-organizing my plushies.", she shared excitedly, making her mom smile with her cuteness. The little girl had totally forgotten what they had planned to do, and it was super sweet.
"That's great, but how about you do that later?", the brunette wondered softly. "Because right now we wanted to use the window colors and paint some decorations for our windows. Remember, Angel?"
"Oh yeah, I do now!", the mini blonde exclaimed joyfully and got right up to grasp her mother's hand and come back downstairs with her. "What am I coloring?", she excitedly questioned as they walked over to the table, joining the others.
"Whatever you want, Baby.", her father responded, pointing at the selection of pictures that could be painted. "Great that you have finally joined us.", he added, beaming at his child and kind of hoping for her to tell him what had been holding her up.
"I forgot that we wanted to do this and played with my plushies.", Leo cutely shared. "But I wanna paint these Christmas cookies now!", she happily picked one of the templates and handed the green bottle to her dad to help her get some of the color, while her mother sat down in between her and Lucas to be able to help them both.
Owen had Layla on his right and Luna on his left, wanting to help them as much as he could and when Logan needed help as well, he would just ask his parents and they would get up to support him.
"I'm gonna color this Christmas tree.", his wife decided and grabbed the picture. The twins obviously didn't really paint inside the lines, but they hadn't expected them to since they were only two years old.
Still, the couple had wanted to have everyone be a part of the window decorations, meaning they were fine with it. Surprisingly, the three older children were being very careful and tried to make their pictures as beautiful as they could.
As the trauma surgeon picked the pile of gifts as his template, he turned on some Christmas story with his phone that the family could listen to meanwhile, making the afternoon even better than it already was.
