"Wow, not much has changed! It's bigger, sure, but- wow." Christine couldn't stop gawking at the sight of her hometown.
Ryker wasn't any better, having pulled his hair back more carefully and even took off his mask to show a bright smile and to smell the familiar scent of the place.
Alastair was having a hard time looking around the town when he just wanted to focus on his mate. His mate looked relaxed and so happy, he wanted to soak it all in. He wanted to remember that look as much as he possibly could. Eventually he would be able to make him smile like that.
"We should get some groceries, there's a hotel nearby with rooms that have their own kitchen." The red-haired woman hummed, not letting her eyes drift from the scene before her.
James chuckled and nodded. He easily spotted a medium sized building with the bold words NINI'S BIG MARKET. It was cute and there seemed to be plenty of parking space and there were plenty of cars parked as well.
A pair sharp gasps were heard as the two Oakwoods leaned forward with even bigger smiles on their faces.
"It's still open?" Christine chirped, beginning to bounce in her seat.
The two werewolves chuckled at how excited their mates were. It was cute too. Without another word, they parked and the two were quickly grabbed and dragged around the place with an old buggy being pushed. Thankfully the wheels were properly oiled so there was no annoying squeaking.
Easily the two red heads went isle after isle, pulling down their favorite brands with giggles and soft laughter. The two others were just happily following along, watching their mates fully relax and feel at home. Then the two stopped and their faces were directed at an elderly woman who was leaning on a rather beautifully done cane. She wasn't hunched though; she was standing tall and gripping the cane rather loosely like it was only there to sooth the worries of other people. Her eyes were lidded and mostly hidden behind half-moon glasses, but even from where they stood, they could tell her eyes were a sharp and vibrant blue.
"M-Mimi?" Christine whispered as the elderly woman smiled.
"Crissy! Little Star!" The woman hummed, marching over to them with her sundress gently blowing around her.
Ryker and Christine snapped out of their trance and hurriedly met the woman half-way and the three of them embraced. The red-haired woman soon began to cry in the elder woman's shoulder as she held the two close to her body. She rocked the pair of them, humming a rather soothing lullaby. The three of them stayed like that, much to the confusion of the Alastair and James. Chrstine hadn't mentioned anyone by the name, or nickname, of Mimi.
The woman hummed as she pulled away from her family, looking to the rather handsome men standing behind them. They were looking at her warily and if she really dug, jealousy. Giving them a warm smile, she turned to her older grandchild.
"Who are they?"
Christine quickly latched herself on her boyfriend's arm, a loving smile forming on her face as her eyes shone with a new light. A light that the old woman recognized easily.
"T-This is James Griffon. He's my boyfriend, Mimi."
James looked at the woman closely as Mimi narrowed her eyes more at him. Her face was tight with thought, a scowl soon forming on her face that was rather intimidating and vicious.
"What about that waste of life?" She growled.
Christine flinched and looked down, her grip on her boyfriend's arm tightening. She didn't want to admit it... That she and all the others were right. Especially since they had already hated him.
"In prison." James's voice was cold and calm as he addressed the woman. "Has been for some years."
Mimi hummed, her scowl deepening before she shook her head and a kind smile formed. She stuck out a hand, revealing it to be calloused and strong looking for her age. James quickly grasped it.
"I'm James Griffon, as Christine said. The young man beside me is my son from my previous marriage."
Said young man gave the woman a warm smile, nodding to her.
"Alastair Griffon, Ma'am."
The woman laughed good naturedly, bringing her hand back with a kind wave.
"What lovely men you two have found. I like them." She teased, causing the two of them to burn a bright red that neither had seen.
"Mimi!" They shouted.
Alastair stared wide eyed at Ryker, surprised by the sudden reaction. His surprise soon faded into a smile. He quite liked that. It meant he was comfortable, meaning he should be comfortable with the woman as well.
The old woman laughed good naturedly before nodding happily.
"Come, I'm going to the cabin." She hummed, a note of sorrow in her voice.
The two tensed, shifting some.
"It's... It's still there?" Ryker's voice was meek, not something the two Griffon's would've expected from such a large figure as him.
The old woman gave him a sad smile and nodded.
"How could I get rid of it?" She muttered before turning on her heels and began to walk away. "Come, we have lots of shopping to do." Her somber tone became lighter, her glancing back with a smile.
The two red heads took a step forward, naturally about to follow her before they stopped themselves, remembering they were with people. Shyly, they looked back to them. James leaned down and kissed his lover on the head.
"You haven't seen in her or this cabin in a long time... Why not go?" He hummed.
The two of them smiled such a happy and carefree smile, that it stunned the two silent. They then hurried off to catch up with the rather spry old woman.
