The red heads glowered a little, keeping their backs turned as they finished putting away the last bit of groceries. Despite not being able to see their expressions, the two Griffons found it cute.

Mimi grabbed a stool from under the kitchen isle and then found a bag of hair clippers and combs and scissors. She shook it with a smirk, making the two turned to her with a huff.

"Rion first."

The teen flinched at that name, quickly shaking his head. He knew Mimi was going to give him a mullet. He may not have seen her in years, but he remembered the times she had given his other family members a haircut, and they were always mullets if she could get away with it.

"Rion?" Alastair leaned on the kitchen isle, looking between the Oakwoods for any knowledge of the nickname.

"You didn't say?" The grandmother held a mild look of surprise before happily turning to the young man that had asked. "His full name is Ryker Orion Brown. I think the two decided on Orion as it was the main constellation out during his birth! Or because they had gotten married on the Orion season... Perhaps both!" She chirped happily. She then pointed a threatening pair of scissors at her grandson before to the stool. "It won't be a mullet. You have your mother's face. It wouldn't look too good."

He hesitated for a moment more before slumping and sitting on the stool. She made a noise that sounded like a grunting whine. The teen slumped more as he took off his sunglasses and mask, setting them on the counter. With those items out of the way, she happily began to brush and comb through the mess that was his hair.

Quickly, she tied a large part of it off and then took the hair clippers and sawed off the low ponytail she had made. After that, she took the comb and scissors to clean it all up. Of course, she made sure to keep in mind his wavy-curly hair and some bangs to cutely cover part of his eyes.

She was soon done, just brushing out the last bits. She then gently pulled him up and motioned for her granddaughter's turn.

"Show him upstairs. He'll be needing to sleep in your room after all." There was a teasing tone in the old woman's voice as she shooed the two young adults off.

Ryker's heart skipped a beat before he nodded slowly. He made a move to grab his sunglasses and mask, but a sharp look sent him away with a pout.

"I was upstairs..." Alastair muttered into his mate's ear.

He didn't miss how the other shivered, nor the hitch in their breathing. It was cute in his opinion, especially now that he could see how soft the other's face was. The red-haired boy surprised him by taking his hand. Quietly, the two of them went into Ryker's old room. There the red-haired teen opened his window, exposing a hanging wooden ladder that nearly matched the oak tree behind it.

Ryker quickly climbed up, stopping halfway to see if the other was following. He smiled a little when he saw that his future stepcousin was right behind him. He hurried all the way up to his hidden tree house, the place that he used to play games in.

The tree house was cleverly hidden on the highest branches, where everything was naturally tangled. He had little windows to look out and roof hatch for him to climb all the way up. There were seating benches, but he guessed they would either be needing to be cleaned or replaced. He didn't mind the future work that would be needing to be done to get his treehouse looking nice again.

"Wow, this place... It's so cool." Alastair looked around the room, noticing how the floor was padded. He also noticed there was a box on the far wall that had pillows and blankets thrown on top of it.

"Thank you..." Ryker whispered, shifting a little as he sat underneath one of the windows, the late sunlight shining down on him in an angelic way.

The two sat in silence, one of them observing the other while said other tried to keep his eyes hidden. The taller of the two hated that. He wanted to see his eyes.
