Soap took down the Shadow swiftly, grabbing the man by the neck and stabbing him just above his collarbone. The Shadow's scream was muffled when Soap quickly covered his mouth with his hand. He didn't want others to come snooping.
"Killed a Shadow." He drops the body to the ground.
"Nice. Take his gun." He picks up the gun, cocking it.
It was cold and heavy in his hands, "Got it."
"Moving up in the world, Johnny." Soap smiles to himself as he enters a clothing store, looking around for anything useful.
"Choose your shots and targets wisely, Johnny. Guns make noise."
"My kingdom for a suppressor..." Soap mutters, making his way further back into the store. The Shadow's radio from outside is making a lot of noise. He should've smashed it.
"Be smart with what you've got. That's the trick..." He picks up more wax that was sitting on a dresser, the candle still smoking from being blown out. Someone was here recently. Soap doubted any of the Shadows would bother, probably hoping it would burn the building down.
Must've been Ghost.
"Lovely..."
He turns on his headlamp when he goes farther back. The lights have been turned off. Soap notices a counter and walks behind it, seeing a blue drawer underneath. Opening it, he finds more supplies. Mousetrap and more chemicals.
"...got a Shadow down." Soap stops moving and looks over his shoulder. They found the body quicker than he would've liked. Soon, more Shadows would be approaching this area if he wasn't quick about this.
Soap enters a room behind a counter, turning right and down a small hallway. There were a lot of fucking mannequins down here and it was freaking him the fuck out. He's seen enough horror movies to know what happens to a guy all alone with these things.
Once he makes it to the end of the hallway, he turns right through another doorway. Soap about jumps out of his skin when he sees another dead Shadow. Ghost was definitely busy when he came through.
In the opposite corner of the room, there's a large military-grade box. Soap goes to it and opens it, revealing rope and sticks of dynamite inside. He thanks whichever higher power puts these here and pockets whatever he could carry.
"Seek and ye shall find..."
"Whatchya got?"
"Black powder..." Soap turns one of them in his hand, inspecting it.
"Nice. This could get interesting..."
He grabs a mousetrap from his pocket and sets to work on making a handmade mine. Gods he hoped it would work when he used it.
"LT...about to play rough with the Shadows..."
"I like the sound o' that."
"Fashioned a trip mine..."
"A man after my own heart..." Soap pauses. Was that Ghost flirting with him or just being friendly?
"You have a heart?" He tries to play it off with a joke, poking at Ghost.
"A cold one."
Soap couldn't help himself. He had to reply to that one, he just didn't know why he wanted to, "Best we warm it up then, yeah?"
Silence follows after that line, Ghost not responding. Soap curses himself out. Why did he have to say something so cheesy? Also, this was in the field, he did not flirt during missions.
He corrects himself.
He didn't use to flirt and now Ghost was doing something to change that.
He heads back through the clothing store, and out to the alley that leads to the candle shop. Soap stops when the alleyway comes to an intersection. To his right was the plaza and to the left was another alleyway. The alleyway leads to the direction of the church, as he could see it peaking through the tops of the buildings.
