"Val, Val wake up!" Jen said as she shook Val from her sleep

"Ve a matarte." I groaned as I pulled the covers over my head.

"You need to get ready, we were supposed to leave a while ago," Jen said,

"Para que?" I mumbled as I attempted to open my eyes, " The ball?" I mumbled as I faced Jen, "Isn't that till later?"

"No! It starts soon" Jen said,

"Okay, okay, I'll go put on my dress." I said as I stumbled out of bed into the bathroom where my dress was hanging. It was floor length, from fitting with golden details on the skirts and hemlines. "Can you help me with my hair?" I said as I looked in my vanity mirror.

"Yeah, come here," Jen said,

"Don't forget we need to wear masks to the ball your mother said," Jen reminded me

"Well at least no one will know for sure that it's me, which means I might be able to get out of some socializing." I said as Jen pinned my hair up into a bun, leaving little wisps out in front of my face.

"Didn't mother say you had to fix your hair up?" I questioned, " Oh, my mother said I can keep it down as long as I straighten it.. I don't know why" Jen replied,

"Lucky, well maybe she's apologizing for snapping at you yesterday. Mexican moms apologize in weird indirect ways." Val said as she put some hairspray in her hair.

"Or she's planning something..." Jen mumbled,

"Oh my god, maybe she'll try to marry you off!!" I said, turning toward Jen.

"She better not. " Jen replied in a moody tone,

"Maybe to that prince you keep asking about," I said,

"She hates that family.. She wouldn't ever." Jen muttered,

"Auntie doesn't seem to be.. nice" I whispered to Jen,

"I'm what now?"My Tia came into the room unexpectedly,

"I said your throne didn't look nice and needs a bit more golden added to it, Mother," Jen said,

"Hm... Alright," Auntie said,

"Jen, make sure you stay looking presentable for the ball," Auntie said,

"Yes mother," Jen said, as her mother left the room closing the door behind her

"Thanks," I said,

"Mhm, she's not too hard to lie to," Jen said,

"Let's go to our thrones before our mothers get furious," I said,

"Alright, Let's go be PeRfeCt LaDiEs," Jen said sarcastically,
