Kim Sunhee

"I'm sorry," I said as I raised my head and was quite stunned by what I saw. The guy before me was wearing shades and a face mask, along with a bandana pushing his hair back and a snapback over it. He could have easily been mistaken for a criminal or a thug. Who even wears sunglasses at night?

He just nodded, lowered his sunglasses and stared down at me. There was something familiar about him, about his eyes and nose, but I couldn't put my finger on it. "It's okay," he said in the deepest voice I had ever heard. I found that pretty hot.

"Yeah, al-"

He abruptly resumed his walk and pushed past me.

"Wait," I said a bit too loud for my liking. He turned around and stared at me expectantly. "Have we met before?"

"No."

"Are you sure? I mean, you look-" I was cut off yet again, this time by his deep voice.

"I would remember you." And with that, he turned around and left me there, more confused than ever.

What the heck was wrong with that guy? And what did he even mean by I would remember you? Tsk, boys nowadays... I swear to God.

I shrugged it off and headed back to my room. Right when I closed the door, my phone rang.

"Mom!" I exclaimed once I accepted the call. "When are you getting here?"

"That's precisely what I wanted to talk to you about... We won't be able to make it there tonight. Something came up, and we'll have to stay in Seoul for a few more days. I'll let you know until when exactly. Have fun there on your own. Meet some people, go out. You have your credit card, so money won't be an issue. We're truly sorry, really, but you know these things are out of our control most of the time."

I tried to hide my hurt and said, "It's alright, mom. Tell dad I love him. I love you, too. Good luck with work," in the most cheerful tone I could manage to get out.

"We love you, too, Sunhee. See you in a few days."

Instead of feeling bad about the news I had just received, I tried to look at the positive side. Without my parents there, I was free to do as I wished. I could even sleep elsewhere, or bring anyone over and do as I pleased. But... as I mentioned before, I was too shy to bear, so bringing boys over and sleeping around was definitely not an option. Still, I could get drunk and do whatever the hell I wanted. I was a twenty-one year old, free girl!

After watching TV for little over three hours and having 'dinner' in my room, I took a nice, refreshing shower and put on the first dress my eyes landed on. I decided to go out for some night action. I put on some lipstick and raked a hand through my hair.

"Don't let anyone notice you're insecure, Sunhee," I said as I stared at myself in the mirror.

I grabbed a hold of a small bag and put my wallet and phone in it. I took the elevator to the lobby and quickly grabbed the first cab that I saw.

"Hello." I bowed. "Just take me to the nearest club. It has to be a good one, okay, sir?" I told the taxi man, and he just chuckled.

"Alright, miss." He drove off.

Minutes later, we were parked in front of a club called 247 Lounge. I paid the fee and got off right after thanking the man. There was a short line outside the club, and it took me about two minutes to reach the security guard, slash bouncer. He didn't even ask for my identification, which I thought was strange, but I had never really gone out for night adventures, so I didn't know much.

I walked into a room swarmed with people. There were people dancing around in every corner, some wearing very revealing clothes. Everyone was either drinking or smoking or dancing, or all three of them at once. I pushed past a few people, until I found the bar. I sat on one of the stools and waited until a bartender approached me.

"Hey, what should I get you?" she asked, smiling brightly. She looked slightly older than me, maybe 25.

I returned the smile. "I'll just have two Hites." (A/N: Hite is a popular beer in South Korea.)

"That'll be 16,000 won," she said as she uncapped both bottles and wrapped napkins around them.

I paid and sipped from one of the two beers. Once I had downed the first one completely, I chugged down the second one and ordered a tequila shot. After I drank it, I felt ready for the night.

Although I was not much of a dancer, I can't even remember how many different guys I danced with, some Korean, others foreign. Every now and then, I'd go back to the bar and order something to drink. I had a very high resistance to alcohol.

At three in the morning, I was already worn out. I decided to grab a cab and go back to the hotel. There was plenty of time for me to get drunk and party in the next few days. The taxi man left me right in front of the entrance, and once I went in, I tried to look like I wasn't piss drunk, for the sake of my reputation. I stepped into the elevator once I made my way across the first floor. I punched the button that read 22 and patiently waited to reach my floor.

Once the lift came to a halt, I stepped out and began walking, but immediately bumped into someone who was coming out from the other elevator and walking to the opposite direction.

"Hey... why don't you watch where you're walking?" His voice came out very low, deep, and a bit hoarse.

"I should ask you the same thing," I replied. I looked up and found a very familiar guy staring down at me.

He sighed. "Dear God, it's you again."

It was the guy from earlier that day. I must confess he did look pretty good, he was extremely handsome. He was now wearing a cap and a pair of black-framed glasses. Just normal glasses, no shades... thankfully. I could see his face more clearly, and for some reason, I knew that face. Either he was oddly ordinary, or I had seen him elsewhere before.

"Uh, I'm sorry..." I whispered as I bowed my head, feeling greatly ashamed.

"It's okay," he said back, and just then, I tried to walk again, but tripped on nothing, literally, and almost fell. If he hadn't caught a hold of my arm, I would've fallen.

"I- thank you."

He stared at me directly for a few seconds, then, he let go of me and walked away.

Alrighty, then.
