Alex's P.O.V.

No emotion. No Feelings. No vulnerability. I moved in the familiar motions. Off the train. To the school. Sitting away from the other students at the Slytherin table. The mood was terrifying. Not even depressing; just terrifying. I didn't let it phase me though. I couldn't. Suddenly the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. I could feel eyes on me. Not just any eyes. His. Those obsidian orbs. I starred at the wall. Never allowing my attention to flow to him. I must have looked like a statue. I heard his voice. Though I wasn't listening to the words. I was focused. I knew what was coming. On either side of Severus, stood Amicus and Alecto. Brother and sister Death Eaters. They could very well be my biggest threat in the walls of the school, if not Severus himself. I would have to be very careful. The threat is now in my home. The gates of Hogwarts no longer protection.

Minutes later a feast appeared before us. Not like the usual feast. The food was dull, dry, unappetizing. I still sat without motion. I wanted to walk out, to my quarters, but I couldn't draw attention to myself like that. One good thing about this year, I would still have my private quarters. I haven't the faintest idea why, but that's what it said in my Hogwarts letter. Instead I sat, still as a statue, staring blankly at the wall, and trying to stay strong even though the very place I call home is ruined and corrupted.

Severus's P.O.V.

She was here. She was actually here. Why?! How could she come back?! Surely the Order would have warned her. Surely Lupin would have made her stay. She knows the dangers! Why is she here? I can't protect her here. Not anymore. It would... ruin everything I have worked for all these years. But she was the woman I loved. I can't simply it aside and watch Amicus and Alecto drag her to Voldemort. Why Alex? That was a stupid question. I knew exactly why. She has her Grandfather's heart and mind. She's here to serve. To protect. She doesn't care about her own life. She's a spy. That's... a life I would wish on no one. I wanted nothing more than to run to her. To grab her and disappear from here. Disappear to safety. But alas I can't. I can't compromise everything we have one. The lives that have been sacrificed for this mission... I can't.

Slowly, I sipped my wine as I let my eyes finally stray from Alex and over the rest of the students. Considerably less of them then normal. That, I was glad of. Less.. casualties. Looking to my right I noticed I had not been the only one with eyes on Alex. Amicus' eyes lingered on her for a long time. I felt myself start to go for my wand. But I stopped. I knew the thoughts going through his disturbed mind. It took everything in me not to kill him in that moment. I wouldn't let him touch her. She's still mine. She...She needs to know the truth. So she will let me attempt to protect her.

"The bitch is a pretty little thing isn't she?" Amicus asked with a twisted smirk. Anger flooded ever part of my body.

"Wouldn't know. Don't care. She's nothing but a threat. A tool to be used against us."

"Oh come on Severus," He laughed. "I saw the way you starred. Admit it, you wouldn't mind having a piece of that. I think.. before we take her to the Dark Lord, I will." A small cackle came from his lips as he sipped his wine and starred at my love. I'll kill him.

Alex's P.O.V.

When dinner was over I quickly stood and all but sprinted to my quarters. I was the first out of the door and down the hallway. Quickly making it to the dungeons. Only a hundred feet or more and I was to safety. When I made it to my wall I uttered the password then flew inside at the wall opened. I quickly sealed it and put a few extra charms up for good measure. Finally. A small amount of comfort washed over me, but I didn't let it blind me. I wasn't safe, even here.

I didn't bother unpacking my trunk. Instead I took a spot on the couch and gripped my wand tightly in my right hand. I stayed in this position for hours. Watching the flames of the fire place. Someone was coming for me tonight. Whether it be Severus, Amicus and Alecto, or Tom himself. I wasn't letting my guard down. Hours went by slowly. Six, seven, eight, nine, ten, eleven, twelve, one. Hour by hour I sat in wait. Until it happened. The floo's flames went up in a green blaze. I stood quickly, wand at the ready, to see who my attacker would be. As the flames settled, I saw who him there. Severus. Unarmed and arms up in a surrendering manner. "I'm not here to hurt you or take you to him, I swear." he spoke quickly.
