Everyday was the same routine. For months i woke at seven am to go and train. Deverose and I would train from Seven am to seven pm. Most days ended in me being so sore and tired I could barely move. Some days were worse than others when Deverose would push my abilities. I had even fainted a few times, but in the end it would all be worth it.

I rarely saw Severus. Only when he would come to meetings. I tried to speak to him a few times, but he completely ignored me. When I was ready I went down stairs and stepped outside. The weather was getting warmer and warmer everyday, but as everyday passed I got a sinking feeling in my stomach. Like something very bad was going to happen. When i looked around the field there were dummies posted on sticks all over the yard in a large group. Deverose was placing the last one when I walked up to him. "Whats all this"

"Well, it seemed like you were running low on friends, so I made you some" He said with a smirk. Wonder how long he rehearsed that one.

"You're such a dick" I said with a scoff.

"Oh, but you weren't saying that last night. In fact I remember 'Deverose! Oh Deverose! I love your-" he said in a mocking girly voice.

"I never said that."

"A guy can dream right?" He asked with a wink.

"You can, but you live in dreams and forget about reality."

"Like the reality that you kick me out of your room every night and you've refused to go to dinner with me for four months?"

"Yeah, like that one."

"Careful my dear. I'm starting to feel used."

"Yeah, well how about you use some of those feelings to train me. Let's go."

"Fine. Today we're going to be working on your dome. The last time you cast it you did great, but you couldn't hold it while moving. Before we leave today, you will."

"I have a feeling I'm not going to leave here conscious today."

"We'll see. Stand in the middle of the group and start trying to project it." I nodded and went to the middle of the group. I began picturing it in my mind as hard as I could. Every detail. When I opened my eyes I saw a blue dome spreading from me over the dummies. It covered only half of them then shot back and disappeared. We tried this over and over for hours. "Alright stop. Take a break." I dropped to the ground and put my head between my knees to hopefully stop the pain pounding through it. "Head hurt?" I nodded and took a few deep breaths. Deverose sat down next to me and started rubbing my neck. I leaned into his touch and leaned my hard back a little. "You've got to figure out some way to stretch yourself. You're strong enough so what's the stigma? What's stopping it?"

"Well, everything I've ever had to use serious power before it was in life and death situations. It just happened. Adrenaline and people I care about mixed just brings the reaction from me."

"Alright. Let's try something different." Deverose stood and joined the outer side of the group of dummies. "They're trying to kill every single one of us." I stood and moved back to the middle of the group. "I'm one of them. I'm disarmed and there's on person throwing a thousand spells at me at once. Go." I tried with everything I had. The dome shot out and covered everyone. Deverose looked around and laughed. "Good. Good. Now start casting spells and keep the dome up." I nodded and mumbled a few spells that shot through the dome and hit a pole I was aiming for. "Great! Now start moving." As soon as I took one step the dome dropped. Deverose sighed and shook his head. "Alex-"

"I know Deverose! The war is approaching. Any day now. Please don't fucking remind me again."

"Fine." He grabbed a dummie. "This is Severus. He's wounded, disarmed, and helpless. Protect him or he will die. Go." I imagined Severus standing in front of me. Bloody and beaten. Gasping for air. I felt tears form in my eyes, but I pushed the back. I produced the dome again and quickly covered the group. Then I started casting spells that hit the pole once again. I started moving slowly and casting a few spells. The more and more I did the stronger the dome got. I started running through the group casting spells at the pole from every angel. "See.. I know you could do it... just needed the right motivation I guess. That's going to be all for the day..." he said quietly. Deverose headed for the door.
