Chapter 1: Old Enough To Die

Alex's P.O.V.

        "I'm going Dad whether you like it or not. I have a responsibility to Harry same as everyone else."

        "No Alex! I forbid it! You have a responsibility to yourself! To stay alive and uncaptured!"

        "How long do you think that is going to last with me here like a sitting duck?! He is going to find me one way or another!"

        "We'll go into hiding!"

        "The hell we will! I will not let him scare me into a corner and cower away! I will not back down! He's taken everything from me! Everything! I want to watch the son of a bitch die!"

        "But I don't want to watch you die Alexandra!"

        "I hate to tell you, but the likeliness of that happening is more than me not going with you tonight."

        "You will stay here!"

        "I will get out of the house whether you leave me here or not!"

        "Alex.. just please for once... be a little concerned about your own life..."

        "I'm not okay?! I'm concerned for the sake of the Wizarding World!"

        "And what will happen to the Wizarding world if he catches you and makes you use your powers against us?!

        "I'd kill myself before he got the chance!" Dad stared at me with a defeated and hurt look in his eyes.

        "You really don't care if you live or die..."

        "No.. I don't. Preferably I'd like to live, but you have to realize the probability of that."

        "And you have to realize I'm not ready to lose you..."

        "You'll never be ready, but it might happen."  

        "Alex.. please... I can't stop you from going back to Hogwarts, but-"

        "And you can't stop me from this. I'm seventeen, I have no trace. They need me." Dad sighed and his shoulders slumped a bit.

        "Fine... Fine Alex... fine." He walked to his room and shut the door. I sighed and went to mine to get ready. I pulled on some jeans and a black shirt then put my hair up in a bun. After I slipped on my combat boots I grabbed my broom from under my bed and waited in the living room for Dad and Tonks. Don't know why he would want to let her go and not me. She's bloody pregnant!

        An hour or so later some of the Order stood in front of Harry's house in the Muggle world. Hagrid quickly knocked and soon after the door opened to reveal Harry Potter himself. He smiled a smile that could light up a room at the sight of Hagrid and his friends. We all hurried in before our cover was blown and conversations quickly broke out. Dad made some kind of joke. I didn't hear it. I didn't hear any of it. I had one mission and I didn't want to mess up my focus. Someone called my name. I tried to ignore it, but they just got louder. Finally I looked up to see George looking down at me. "Alex.."

        "Hello George."

        "Lupin said you were a bit off. I see what he was talking about now."

        "Just trying to focus."

        "How have you been?"

        "Fine."
