CHAPTER TWENTY-TWOSOFIA'S P.O.V
After receiving a new phone from Drake, sobrang naging smooth na ng communication namin ni Sancho. Lagi siyang tumatawag at nagte-text sa’kin. At first, I felt a little guilty using the phone Drake gave me just to contact Sancho especially since Drake and I never even exchanged a single message.
But why does it bother me, anyway?
It’s not like I’m expecting Drake to message me everyday. And even if he does, I probably wouldn’t reply, unless it’s a call and only if it’s something important. Besides, choice niya namang bigyan ako ng phone. I never asked for it. I never demanded anything from him because, in the first place, he’s not obligated to provide for the things I want.
Keypad nga lang ok na ako. Pero dahil may pera siya, he can spoil people with material things even if hindi mo naman hinihingi. That’s just how he is.
And lastly, he never told me how to use this phone. Since binigay niya ito at in-emphasize niyang akin na ito, then I have the right to do whatever I want with it. Pero syempre, I still respect him, lalo na’t iisang bubong lang ang tinitirhan namin. Kaya every time na tumatawag si Sancho, sinisigurado kong nasa trabaho o wala sa paligid si Drake.
Well, that’s the least of my concerns.
Ang mas iniisip ko ngayon ay si Cindy. It’s been one week and still, no messages, no calls, wala. My hand is itching to text or call her, but I keep stopping myself.
Alam kong ayaw niyang ginugulo kapag hindi pa siya ready to talk about something. She’s my best friend. Kilala ko siya. I know she’ll reach out once she’s ready. Dahil hindi pa siya nagpaparamdam sakin, it only means she's not yet okay and she needs more time. I would be the worst friend if I didn’t give her that space.
Hindi pa man kami okay ni Cindy I'm sure ma so sort out rin namin ang bagay na ito and she will forgive me. Peru if hindi parin talaga niya ako kakausapin. Ako na mismo ang pupunta sa kanila.
For now, let’s talk about Drake.
They stayed here all night. Same old routine. Bryant helped me prepare the food habang ang iba abala sa pag-uusap tungkol sa kung ano-anong topic na wala naman kinalaman sa pinapanood nila.
"Can I touch your belly, if it’s okay?" biglang tanong ni Bryant habang inaayos ko ang mga pinggan sa mesa.
Hindi ako agad nakasagot. I wasn’t sure how to respond. He was looking straight at my belly, smiling softly.
Honestly, no man has ever attempted to touch my belly since I got pregnant. Not even Drake. I don’t know why. Maybe he doesn’t want to, or maybe he just doesn’t care. I never imagined him doing that either, even though it's his baby inside me.
"Sure."I answered.
I didn’t lift my shirt. I was too shy for that. But thankfully, he only placed his hand gently over my belly, on top of my shirt.
A smile formed on his face, parang mas excited pa siya kaysa sa tatay ng bata. You’d think the baby’s already kicking. Mag fo-four months palang ito. And since this is my first pregnancy, hindi pa gano’n kalaki ang tiyan ko. At first glance, aakalain mong puson lang ang umumbok.
