3yrs ago

Castiel Novak was freshly 15 years old, he was the eldest child of Naomi and Charles (Chuck) Novak whom were devout Christians and very wealthy business people.

They had moved to the small town of Lawrence Kansas when Castiel was just a baby in order to start early retirement and begin his fathers long dream of becoming a pastor at his very own church.

Which came with its downsides such as Castiel and his siblings being very much forced into already chosen for them beliefs and being made to be part of the church. From a very young age his parents always expected the best so they drilled it into their children's brains.

Castiel especially (head is the heaviest that wears the crown and all that.) So he had piano lessons from the age of six, was always learning, studying and taking extra classes all to be the best for his parents so they would love him unconditionally.

Though things got a bit harder when he was diagnosed with high functioning autism- not full blown just on the spectrum.

Enter the upsides. When they first moved to Lawrence Castiel was five, he made a friend Dean. Dean who was nice, funny and just generally amazing. They instantly clicked and grew up together.

Though whereas Castiel was excelling as he got older Dean was.. quite the opposite. His father was absent and that left Dean to take care of his younger brother Sam, but Castiel always commended him for this and tried to help him better himself in order to help with Dean's familial situation.

But Castiel's parents began to take notice, hear all the 'bad things' about Dean, so that ended their friendship (or so Castiel's parents thought) they just kept it quiet, because the less people who knew the better.

And that's what brings us to now.

Castiel yawned as he sat up straight out of bed. He reached for his phone and smiled at the first text, 'Hey buddy, you free today?'

It was Dean. Castiel's face was red as he grinned ear to ear. He quickly typed out a reply and was surprised when he got one back just as quick.

'Great, meet me at my place- and bring books- I need to study!'

Cas chuckled, 'Of course Dean'

'😁'

So Castiel made his bed before heading for the shower. When he got out he looked through his things for something to wear. Dean always said Castiel had a.. unique way of dressing which was much nicer than what the kids at school would say.

He finally settled on a pair of black jeans and a light almost pastel blue sweater to match. He grabbed his leather crossbody bag and headed downstairs.

"Castiel."

Castiel sighed quietly to himself, he knew his parents would want to speak before he left but he was hoping to avoid that interaction. He backtracked to peak into the kitchen where his father was cooking and his mother was sipping on coffee while reading the latest newspaper and his siblings Gabriel, Anna and Alfie were sat at the table with her.

"Yes mother?" He said, entering the kitchen, stood just behind where Gabriel was sat, scribbling on a piece of paper.

"Where are you off to so early?"

"Um.. I'm helping a friend study- we have midterms coming up."

She finally looked at him, humming she nodded, "Well alright, will you be home before lunch?"
