Chapter 12: Contract

I had to walk to the park after school to meet up with Annabelle and the spies. Although I wasn't particularly thrilled about the meetup, I was okay with it. I was apprehensive about how Annabelle would feel, considering she was about to come face to face with the two individuals who had fought against her and got her expelled. It was bound to be an uncomfortable encounter. However, Jeslyn might attempt to persuade her to return, so I had to be prepared for that possibility.

I walk over to the bench table where we will be having our meeting. No one was there yet so I read a book. I was waiting for about 20 minutes until the group finally decided to come and had slushes with them.

Jalen: "You awfully took your time."

Jeslyn: "Yeah so? Why does it matter to you?"

Jalen: "We had a specific time to meet and you forgot it."

Jeslyn: "No Jalen. We had a location to meet and not a time. We could have come anytime we wanted but you might've been waiting so we came."

Jalen: "Fair enough. How's everyone else doing?"

Alyssa: "Albert and I are doing just fine on this fine Friday."

Annabelle: "I don't know why I'm here but get on with the meeting."

Jeslyn: "Sure. Let's start with the situation. Why did you decide to attack me?"

Annabelle: "It's not like it's needed to be known but I will tell. It's not that you cared enough to save me or anything like that. I always thought of you as an obstacle. I wanted to be better. I wanted to escape the peaceful but deadly past. I wanted to break the chains of bullying. If I got to hit you, I would use you as a trigger for Jalen to fight me."

Jalen: "You know. I still probably wouldn't have fought you even if you hurt Jeslyn."

Annabelle: "Why are you lying to yourself? I've witnessed it. I've seen your bullying. I know your past. Your cold-heartedness. Your lack of trust in people. Why worry when you can focus on the present?"

Jalen: "There's a way to escape the past. Only to make connections. This is what I do. I want to make a goal for the next two years. To make as many allies and connections as I can."

Annabelle: "I say that it's quite the goal. It only depends if you have the proper skills to achieve it. In your condition, you will barely do it or completely fail."

Jeslyn: "Please! This is enough. We want the best for each other. Don't talk bad about each other!"

Jalen: "Ok, but I want to hear what you have to say."

Jeslyn: "Ok but this is going to take some time. Anyway, Jalen is the potential to be one of the best people in this entire school if he puts his mind to it. Your goal IS questionable, Jalen, but it's doable."

Alyssa: "I don't want to interrupt here but I want to make a small point. Are you and Jalen dating?"

Jeslyn: "Huh!.. Uh no! We are just friends! Nothing more!"

Alyssa: "If you say so." (She 100% has feelings for Jalen)

Annabelle: "Look! I want to just end this conversation and go home. If that's not the case, why Jalen? Why did you put the knife in my pocket?"

I honestly was shocked that she could tell that it was me. It's obvious but she had it coming. She is only some obstacle to me. I honestly wouldn't mind if she comes back to the school. I just can't forgive her for what she did to Jeslyn.

Jalen: "I only wanted to see what happens."

Annabelle: "Oh Shut Up! You have no right to say that. You know, I could get you expelled for the knife. Let me come back to the school and you get suspended."

Jalen: "I don't know about that. You will stay expelled and nothing else. You will receive your punishment."

Annabelle: "You just don't get it. Why did you do it? You only have hurtful things in your heart. You need to escape the past. Just get over yourself."

Jalen: "Annabelle. You did bad things in the past because you wanted peace. If you want me expelled. Come and try it. You can come back in one year if the school lets you back."

Jeslyn: "I will try to convince you to come back to the school. I will become the school president and I will not let anyone from our class be expelled. I want to try my hardest to convince the school for you to come back."

Annabelle: "I will come back when I feel like it."

I guess me vs Annabelle will happen again. I still won't let her back but if she does, I will be ready for her.

Jalen: "I will be leaving now."

Alyssa: "Wait! You can leave the discussion here but can you stay back for a minute?"

Jalen: "I still have time so sure."

Jeslyn: "I will need to leave as well. It might be too late and I didn't tell my parents that I was going to be with some friends."

Jalen: "True. See you later then."

Jeslyn: "Shut up Jalen! I don't want to talk to you right now. I can't forgive you for your horrible actions!"

That didn't end well. I didn't know she was this upset about my actions. I will figure out a way to earn her trust.

Annabelle: "I will be leaving as well. I really learned something from this. See you later everyone."

She walks over.

"Hey, Jalen. Hope you are prepared. When I return next year, I will destroy you."

Jalen: "We will see. The same scenario will happen."

Annabelle: Awfully cocky, we are? I will remember that."

Albert: "That was quite the talk."

Alyssa: "Yes, I must say. Jalen, I command you a job well done."

Jalen: "It was nothing."

(I lied. I lied to myself and them. I was rather dead inside. I didn't think that this will result in Annabelle returning next year.)

Alyssa: "We will need a plan. You want to solve cases, don't you?"

Jalen: "Some fun would be interesting."

Albert: "You should try to expel Jeslyn."

Jalen: "No way! While she's not a friend, she is still important in a way to get closer to others."

(I hate to say this but I'm using her to get what I want.")

Albert: "Lame! I thought you were better."

Jalen: "Why expel someone with no good reason?"

Alyssa: "Just for fun! But we have to go. Here's our contact info. Call us when you need anything."

Jalen: "Thanks! I will call when I need it. I will try my best."

I am hesitant about the idea of expelling Jeslyn Cruz. I believe that she has the potential to become the school president and contribute positively to the rebuilding of our school. Furthermore, my relationship with her will not be affected by this decision. I still look forward to making connections with her and possibly exploring the possibility of a romantic relationship. However, I am still uncertain about this aspect.
