. . 2 ᴀᴜɢᴜsᴛWe've just arrived at the school and my mom has parked in the parking lot. Now I feel really sick.
"Moom... I don't wanna go no more. Can't we just turn back and go home?" I asked, looking out the window and feeling my heart beat getting faster. I started struggling to breathe. Every inch of my body started shaking.

I really thought i escaped this. Overthinking got the best of me...
My mom looked at me and realised how unsettled I was. She's one of the only people that knows how to calm me down.
"Lani, baby.. look at me" she turns off the car and faces me. She reaches for my hand and squeezes it and pulls me in into a comforting hug. She continues to reassure me by telling me that she's here and for me to breath.
"I know your nervous baby. I know your unfamiliar with your surroundings, but that feeling of discomfort can be a sign that you are doing something right. This is a chance for new beginnings. You are going to thrive here, people will love you. And even if they don't, you love yourself and that love should overpower everything else". My mom advised, giving me a kiss on the forehead.
I exhaled and looked at my mom and smiled.
"I'm just really nervous.. all of this is so new. I already miss Atlanta". I said, slouching.
"I know peach.. and it's okay to be nervous. But, don't overthink too much, everything is going to be okay. When you feel yourself getting in your head too much, take a deep breath and pray to the Lord, okay?", my momma advised, rubbing my shoulder.
"Yea.. you're right. Thanks momma. I love you!" I hugged her tightly and unbuckled my seatbelt. As much as I didn't want to go into the school, I didn't want to be late.
"You are going to shine here baby. Your daddy didn't name you star for no reason". She said, caressing my cheek.
I gave out a small chuckle and blowed a kiss. I took a deep breath before stepping out onto the sidewalk and hanged my bag over one shoulder.

Walking through the big red doors and into the hall, I'n suddenly filled with an overwhelming feeling. Tall ass basketball boys were towering over everybody, limping like they just came from practice.
Amongst them I felt like I recognised one of the guys, but I doubt I know anybody who comes to this school except for my neighbours. Some group of girls were chopping it up around their lockers while the rest were just minding their own business trying to get through the human traffic.
I realised how stupid I looked and how I was the reason for this damn traffic.
"Girl, can't you see people tryna get somewhere?" a girl with bright red braids asked, aggressively shoving past.
Damn, there was no need to be this rude. I do understand that was my fault, as I was frozen in front of the door where people were going through, but damn..
"My bad.. sorry". I apologised. I wanted to say more but since it's my first day, ion wanna get on nobody's bad side. Especially hers, she look like she a senior and can fight.
"Yeah right, it is your bad". She irritatedly responded, kissing her teeth before holding hands with one of the basketball dudes.
I moved out the way and stood next to the entrance of the lounge room. I reached into my pocket and pulled out the school map. This place is huge!! Ion kno how I'm gonna get used to this. Got me feeling like the school is a whole mall.
Back in ATL, my school was that big. You got used to it after 2-3 days. This looks like it's gonna take me a good week or two.
The main block got four floors, there are 2 other blocks which have 2 floors. And another 2 blocks that contain the gym, dance studio and cheer gym and swim block which are separated.
I used my finger to trace through the lounge to the front office. There are 3 entrances to the school and I decided to enter through the furthest one to the office. Smh.
"Hey, you ight?" I hear a deep voice ask me.
I look up from my phone and my eyes meet with a boy. My eyes immediately lingered to his beautiful brown eyes which the sun was hitting on. He ran his hands through his hair and gave me a smile. His smile was bright. He had really.. really nice teeth. Ion usually look for teeth but his were perfect.
As I was admiring him, I realised he was the guy I saw last night at the park. Andd the guy I saw amongst those basketball boys. I knew he looked familiar.
His fit was casual but fire. He wore

He glances at me and gives a confused smirk. I snap back into reality so I wouldn't spend any more time looking weird just staring at him."Yeah, I'm good. But I'm trying to find the front office.." I explained, continuing to scan the map.
I felt him come closer as he pointed to the front office on the map. I caught a whiff of his cologne. It was strong but smelt amazing. He had clean nails which looked like they were freshly pampered. I like a man who takes care of his nails and is hygienic.
"I can take you there if you want" he offered, his eyes lighting up as we locked gazes.
Before I could respond, he interrupted me, bringing up last night. "Hol up- weren't you at the spot yesterday?", he asked.
"The spot?" I repeated.
"Yea, the park, last night. With Anaiyah and the rest of the gang?" He questioned.
Omg, he remembers me. I thought he wouldn't cus with a face like his he probably got hella girl's faces to remember. That low-key made me feel special. Lemme not get my hopes up thou..
"Yeaa, I was!" I said all gushy. I lost all composure at that moment. If I was lighter, he would've definitely seen me blushing.
"I knew you looked familiar".
"We gotta go to the end of the block cause the front office is at the other entrance" he informed, before proceeding to walk through the hall. While we were walking, it was like he was an ambulance or sum because even with allat traffic he managed to get through with ease. Everybody was moving out the way and making sure there was no delay in his journey.
This got me questioning who he is and what sort of impact he has on everyone to the point that he got people respecting him this much.
