Lunch time rolled around and the gang gathered at the football field, soaking up this heat and eating lunch. Ion know why we chose to sit at these bleachers today when it just got real hot this afternoon. I been telling them that we should go over there to the shade, but these weirdos wanna stay under the sun.

It was just me and the boys: Jon, Bryan, Josh, and Jay. Malik was chillin round with us too, but honestly, I kept my distance; we don't exactly vibe.

The girls were with us too - Niyah, Chanel, and Maliyah. Anaiyah was off doing her thing, probably making out with her new boo, but we knew she'd swing back 'round.

We were all just having random conversations, bussin jokes, telling stories bout summer, and of course, hella talk bout basketball. Bryan was going on about some killer move he pulled last game at the park and Jon was just cracking jokes left and right. He is the most unserious nigga I know. That's why we so tight. Jay just finished mentioning how some folks lowkey glowed up during our break, we started rating people's glow ups - well the girls did.

Josh, always having some story to tell per usual, was already laying down some ridiculous story bout his weekend.

"Bro, y'all wouldn't believe what happened at Logan's party". he chuckled, we all leaned in ready for the drama.

After Josh finished telling us his little sex experience, with two girls mind you, I would've never guessed Josh been getting action in summer, he usually stay to himself and not really be out there - i had to bring up last nights game.

"Yo, we gotta discuss last nights game. Lakers pulled some real crazy moves bro". I stated. Bryan chimed in with some analysis, and soon we were deep into some hoop debate.

I noticed Jay shoot a glance at Maliyah, "bruh you've been hella quiet. Spill, what's up?" He prodded, and the girls joined in, turning towards Maliyah.

Then, finally, Anaiyah popped up. This time, with..

𝑳𝒆𝒊𝒍𝒂𝒏𝒊.

I was hoping to see her again. Thank God for Anaiyah.

"Hey y'all, I found Leilani", Anaiyah declared.

Me and Leilani locked eyes, then she looked away as Anaiyah guided her through the bleachers towards us. As she was approaching, I felt Bryan and Kaejon staring right at me. They're the only ones that currently know how I feel about Leilani, and they're really instigating it right now.

As they came closer, Kaejon dapped up Lani, and the rest said 'hey' to her. Then, she came along to me. We said 'hey' followed by a lil chuckle cus we both recognise how we keep meeting. I leaned over and pulled my arm out, dapped her up, and held her hand for a lil longer, holding eye contact for a little too long.

Anaiyah interrupted us.

"Cmon Leilani, lemme show you to the girls", she said pulling Lani away from me.

They walked over to the girls and sat down. Lani turned around and caught me looking at her.

I ain't got no shame bout it.

"Damn bruh, you really falling in love or sum shit?". Bryan said, leaning over, sorta whispering.

"Not even bruh." I responded, whispering back.

"Who is she?" Jay asked.

I forgot not everybody know her yet.

"Yea, I ain't never seen her before." Malik added.

"She new. She just moved from ATL. She was at the spot yesterday", Kaejon responded, taking a bite of his taco.

"Oh word?" Jay replied, his eyes fixed on her. I caught her looking at him when she walked in. It's subtle, cause she's new, but I know that look because it's the same way I look at her.

As Leilani settled in with the girls, I couldn't shake the feeling that Jay's eyes lingered on her for a bit too long. That protective side of me rose, and I didn't like it. Not one bit.

"Damnn, she do got a fat ass thou", Jay commented with a smirk, and instantly, I felt a surge of discomfort. Leilani wasn't just an object for comments about her body. She was m̶i̶n̶e̶ new, and she deserved some damn respect.

My protective instincts kicked in, and I didn't let that comment slide.

𝑇ℎ𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑠 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑔𝑖𝑟𝑙 𝑖𝑠 𝑎𝑙𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑑𝑦 𝑑𝑜𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡𝑜 𝑚𝑒...

"Bro, chill with that", I said, my tone firm. "Don't talk about her like that".

The boys didn't catch the vibe.

"Nah, Jay's right. She got curves for days", Bryan added, and I shot him a glare.

"Y'all niggas stay looking at girl's asses". I muttered.

"Nigga, you do that too, hypocrite". Malik countered, and I sighed.

Okay, maybe I had.

But.. Leilani was different.

"Ight? But not her, she new, lay back", I responded, trying to set the tone.

The conversation shifted, but I couldn't let it go. I leaned over to Kaejon and Bryan, explaining that I didn't appreciate them talking bout Leilani like that, especially Jay. I'd noticed how Jay's eyes were fixed on Lani, and I needed to make it clear that she was for me..
