You opened your house door after a long day of school and errands. With a sigh, you slid your shoes and jacket off before lying your bag on the ground. You made your way to your bedroom, ready to change into a nice, comfy, warm set of pajamas. You opened your bedroom door, and to your surprise, Cleo was sat on your bed with her zombie friend.
You jumped back in surprise before quickly looking around the hallway to see if anyone had noticed them. No one seemed to be around, so you hastily closed the door.
"How did you get in here?" You asked.
Cleo stopped filing her nails and pointed over to Ghoulia, who slowly raised a bobby pin. You sighed.
"You can't just break into my house."
"Sure I can. We're friends now." She hummed, and she stood and slid her file into her back pocket. "Now, we're having a girl's night and you're so coming with."
"I-I shouldn't, I mean I can't." You answered. "I have homework."
"That's fine." Cleo shrugged, and a devilish smirk appeared on her face. "We'll just come and hang out here!"
"Um, I'd have to ask..."
"Then ask." Cleo tapped her foot impatiently.
You shuffled your feet anxiously. "Mom??" You called out.
She replied with a "what" before you got the chance to speak again.
"Can my friends come over? Maybe have a sleepover?"
"Sure, your dad and I are going out for the week anyway."
You jumped and ran to your parents, leaving Cleo and Ghoulia behind.
"Y-You're leaving?" You asked.
"Yep. Just for a week, hunny." You mom smiled at you.
"When?"
"Tonight!" Your father replied enthusiastically.
"And you didn't tell me... why?"
"We figured we'd tell you before we left but I suppose now is fine. Of course your friends can stay over. We'd love it if you had some company throughout the week."
"Oh, okay." You said, and you gave them a quick hug before returning to your bedroom.
You shut the door and turned to face Cleo.
You jumped again, this time there being more girls in your room. Draculaura, Frankie, and Clawdeen all stood around, admiring your decorations and hobby objects.
Abbey and Lagoona soon slipped in through your window, and you shut and locked it before anyone else could come through.
"We brought pajamas!" Draculaura squealed.
"And candy! Have you ever tried monster candy? I know I've never tried human candy!" Frankie added.
Cleo rolled her eyes. "It doesn't matter, now, where should we set up for the night?"
"Um, the livingroom I guess." You scratched the back of your neck, your anxiety causing an itch to break out all over you. "But we have to wait for my parents to leave."
Just then, a door shut in the house, and you sighed.
"Coincidences...am I right?" Your attempt at joking had went unappreciated, and you mumbled under your breath as you led them to the living room. Draculaura plopped down on the end of your couch while Cleo took a rocking chair. They all filed in one by one, each taking their chosen place either on the couch or floor.
"Okay, so now what?" You asked.
Cleo rolled her eyes. "You really don't know how to have fun, do you?"
"Um, no." You replied.
"Let's go get snacks!!" Frankie hummed.
An uproar of agreements followed, and you stood. "All right, fine, I'll go get human snacks and you guys get monster snacks and we'll try them."
They agreed, and out the door you went. The girls broke off and went down a different path while you went your own. A sudden grunt scared you, and you whirled around to see who it was.
Cleo followed with her arms crossed. "You just gonna leave me behind?"
"Oh, I'm sorry, I didn't realize you had followed me."
"Well duh, you're my new beastie. I have to."
"Okay."
Together, you walked to the closest convenience store. You stepped in the frigid air of the store and went down every row. Cleo grabbed whatever she felt was necessary, and you grabbed a few things as well. When you got to the counter, Cleo paid, despite you begging her not to.
Then you were on your way to your house again. Cleo glanced over at you from her side of the sidewalk and huffed. You looked at her and she shook her head no.
Your eyes, their (E/C) hues could knock her down. Every time you looked at her, it felt as if the air in her lungs was restricted and forced from her body.
It confused her, more than anything. Why was she having this reaction? Why was she constantly doing this? What was happening to her body?
Frankie grabbed a bag of chips from the shelf and smiled. She was sure you'd like these! Her eagerness to please you seemed odd, but she didn't mind. It was all a part of making a new friend! You want to please your friends, don't you?
Draculaura could see it a mile away though. The way she lit up when you spoke, the way she was tempted to make you happy and impress you. The way she acted just by your existence was astonishing.
She talked about you nonstop, and she constantly had a lovestruck look in her eyes.
Draculaura approached her and nudged her.
"I think I know what's going on." She whispered.
"What?" Frankie replied, completely clueless to Draculaura's words.
"I think you like her."
"Wh-What?" She squealed. "No!"
Draculaura held a grin on her face. "Yes you do!"
"No I do not!"
"Don't play with me."
"I'm not playing!"
"Mhm." Draculaura walked off. "It's okay, your secret is safe with me!"
