Chapter 17:

Cleo felt tears prick her eyes. She couldn't handle the confrontation. She couldn't handle the shame.

Cleo looked to Frankie, who shared the same nervous glance. Through Cleo's blurry tears, she could faintly make out Frankie's tears that streamed down her face.

You'd be taken away from them. You'd run away, and you wouldn't ever come back to them. She just knew it.

As hard as she tried, no words came out. She struggled to find her breath. The thought of losing you did something to her that nothing else could. The panic set in, and her stomach turned with anxiety.

"What's going on, Cleo?" Lagoona broke her from her train of thought. "Why are you trying to take (Y/N) away from Tee?"

Cleo couldn't respond.

"Why can't they be friends? She's allowed around other people besides you, you know."

Cleo nodded, wanting Lagoona to leave so she could calm down and catch her breath. Lagoona didn't leave, and instead, she planted her feet firmly on the ground and crossed her arms on disapproval.

Finally, Cleo looked away from her.

"You can tell me, you know. I'm here for you guys. I just want to know what's going on."

Cleo sighed, finally able to speak. "We...um..."

"We have feelings for (Y/N)!" Frankie blurted.

Lagoona's eyes widened. They were severely jealous because... they had a crush on you?

"All this...over a crush?" She asked. "Don't you think that's a bit extreme?"

"N-No!" Cleo immediately became defensive. "I love her!"

"I do too!" Frankie stood.

"You haven't known her long enough to love her." Lagoona said slowly. "You don't love her."

"No, we do." Cleo said.

Lagoona shook her head in surprise. They were acting completely unstable! Getting rid of your best friend, all for their own pleasure. But what could she do? It wasn't like they were hurting anybody. Besides, they were her friends! She had to be supportive of her friends.

"That's fine." She chuckled. "I mean, it isn't like you're killing anyone!"

They laughed in surprise. She wasn't upset?

Cleo and Frankie looked to each other, too stunned to speak.

"What?" Lagoona asked. "Did I say something wrong?"

"No, I just didn't expect you to..." Frankie stumbled over her words.

"To approve of us..." Cleo finished the sentence for her.

Frankie nodded, and she turned a deep red at the realization that some else knew of her crush.

"That's it?" Lagoona chuckled. "Look, if you like her this much, then I'll help you."

Cleo and Frankie blinked, their minds blank and their mouth gaping open. "You'd help us?"

"Not, like, anything weird!" Lagoona cleared up. "I'm just saying that if you needed a wingman, then I'm here!"

Cleo nodded. With Lagoona's help, she was sure that she'd be able to get to you! And as for Frankie, well, she'd just have to deal with it.

Lagoona gritted her teeth. Surely, they weren't going to get you. Her feelings towards you were strong, and she knew that a slight crush was beginning to form. But what could she do? Tell Cleo and Frankie that she liked you too?
