Blackpearl squinted her eyes, trying to see through the storm.

The world was darkened by the clouds, and snow flew violently past, pelting Blackpearl and stinging her scales.

She shot a burst of flame in front of her, giggling at the pained, "Ow," from ahead and smiling at the flames that gently blew against her, warming her slightly.

One of the dragons, Blackpearl couldn't see who through the swirling snow, breathed three plumes of fire from a ledge down below.

Blackpearl tucked her wings in and banked towards the ledge, crash-landing into someone with cold scales. She leaped away from Yeti and stumbled over to Boriel.

Pika, Yeti, and Tern used their ice breath to form a shelter around them.

"Regroup," Cherry said.

"How about we break the groups up in a different way?" Pika suggested. "If we get lost in the storm, either groups, there should be at least one fire breather and one Icewing per group."

"Shard, Yeti and myself on lookout," Tern offered, 'Rest of you, Cherry, Blackpearl, Boriel, and Pika, will go in."

Everyone nodded, then Tern pointed up, then left, then down. "That's where the scavengers are. Starting now we are sneaking up on them and carrying out the plan."

I fixed it but it was 1.15

Blackpearl felt the weight of the mission on her shoulders.

I'm about to walk into a scavenger den, fight some people, try to save my friend, and possibly die.

Blackpearl turned towards Boriel and wrapped her arms around her in a hug. She looked around at the other dragons, the ones who had been complete strangers at first, but now...they were her family.

At least I'm doing it with them.

.............................

The scavenger den was a large, gray and silver metal dome, mostly underground or buried under snow. Tern stopped them twenty feet away and made them go over the plan.

Again.

"Tern," Pika said patiently, "We know the plan."

"Right, right..." Tern said. Then they added, "But just one more time?"

"Tern." Pika's voice was patient, yet decisive.

"Okay, okay. See you when we're done."

Pika and Tern hugged, then Tern leaped into the air, Yeti and Shard following.

Blackpearl waited until they were out of sight in the mist and clouds, then flew towards the scavenger den, staggering in the wind. The others followed her, and Cherry soon caught up and even flew past Blackpearl.

"Why are you going so fast?" Boriel called, laughing.

"I just want to get out of the snow and wind!" Cherry yelled without looking back. They reached the den and hovered just out of sight of the scavengers there.

Luckily, the scavengers were all looking as cold as they were, and were too busy rearranging the dead animal skin on themselves to notice the dragones anyway.

Blackpearl angled her wings and dove towards the scavenger settlement. Cherry was ahead of her, just a few scales flickering in and out of sight as she shifted her scales nervously and swooped down.

The scavengers on lookout spotted them. They yelled something, but it didn't look as if Cherry had seen them. She was still flying down. Blackpearl was about to cry out a warning when Boriel crashed into her seconds before something shot by her ear.
