Koi pulled up to a small home with a lot of abandoned kids toys and tires, the yard was very overgrown and almost went up to Koi's waist. The walls of the home were stained with yellow splatters of chemicals. Koi hopped off the bike and helped an elderly woman off the back of the bike.
Petunia Peters wobbled as she walked and she squinted at the house "I don't live here. Where have you taken me?" she screeched.
Koi sighed and felt her heart clench. She looked at the woman sympathetically "It's your home. Your family is here" she said.
"My family? I have a family?" she asked loudly as they walked to the door.
Koi knocked on the door.
A tired middle aged woman appeared at the door with dried tears streaking her face and her messy brown hair was swept into an unkept bun. As soon as she saw her mother she sighed in relief and smiled, "Mom! We were so worried about you" she said as tears sprung back to her eyes as she hugged her mother.
Petunia looked at her daughter with recognition "Mae? Is that you?" she asked. The woman winced, "Mom, it's not Mae, It's me Lily" she said sadly. Petunia looked confused.
The woman turned to Koi "thank you again. I am so sorry we had to bother you" she said apologetically as Petunia walked into the house and the sound of children playing and screaming poured out of the house.
"Oh, it's never a burden," said Koi "Petunia is a nice lady, but she sure is stubborn" said Koi with a sympathetic smile. "Well thank you again, it means so much to us" said Lily, "I know it's definitely been a tough year for you guys, but I just want you to know if this ever happens again, I will be here to help you" said Koi.
Lily nodded " thank you so much and have a good night" she said as she closed the door.
Koi sighed and turned back to her bike, she climbed onto the seat and opened her watch. The hologram of Petunia showed up and Koi dismissed the file.
She turned off her watch and sighed.
She started the bike and sped down the road, she turned down a less busy street and took it all the way down to the market. She blinked slowly and tiredly adjusted her mask. Pain spiraled through the bridge of her nose and she winced. She would have to bandage her nose when she got inside the booth. She pulled up to the back of the bounty booth and parked the bike by an upturned car. She climbed off the bike and pulled the old curtain back over the bike.
The sun was just setting and the moon was rising, sending the city into a bright sunset and the sky was splattered with scarlet, sunny yellow, magenta, and midnight blue. It looked like a painting, and the temperature had dropped by ten degrees at least so it felt perfect.
Koi walked into the booth and was met by Manny who was standing at the table again sorting through all of the returned supplies, and Clara was standing with her arms crossed over her chest.
Clara had blonde hair in a shoulder length bob style with brown highlights, it was always bouncy and perfect, she had pale skin and brown eyes. She was tall and had a slim body, she wore a beige long sleeved shirt and jeans with a bell bottom.
Clara sent her a nasty look, Koi glared at her and made her way over to Manny.
"There were a few mishaps, but two shells and one alive." she said with a neutral face.
"Ah! Great job Woods! We've got one live one. And did you deliver the Shells to the sanctuary?" Manny said as he stood from his seat.
Koi nodded "yes the Shells were delivered to the sanctuary without any scratches"
