The Blood Dawn

Chapter 6

Koi walked through the bustling streets, weaving in and out of the crowd.

She walked through the rag hanging from the doorway and walked inside the Bounty Hut, she dropped her bag on the ground and looked around the empty supply room. She heard some quiet talking in the next room and she curiously walked in to find Manny looking on his Holopad with Clara next to him.

"Hey, is anyone home?" she said as she stuck her head inside the room.

Clara whipped her head around and shot her a dirty look.

"Ah yes, Good Morning to you too Koi, we were just looking at the Newsfeed, you really need to see this" said Manny as he waved her over.

Manny angled the Holopad towards Koi's direction and she walked closer.

A reporter was standing in front of the Council building and she was speaking with intensity, the Council members stood in front of the gold tipped pillars and looked at the cameras serenely.

"Volume up"

"And here behind me is the Council with a very important announcement to make about the Lunar Unification Day which is coming up next month where the moons will align and cast a gold spotlight onto the city and unify the realms. And this natural phenomenon only happens every ten centuries, but it will supposedly unite the five realms and save us all from the dark times that have fallen upon us. And when I say that I am talking about the Drainers and the Shell incidents that began ten years ago and have been haunting us to this very day and not to mention the massacre that occurred at the beginning of the year and has claimed over four hundred thousand people."

Koi's heart wrenched, she remembered that massacre, it had taken her cousin, but she didn't know him that well. But her heart felt sorrow for the people who were lost that day. But what is this whole Lunar Unification Day about?

"And here is the Council"

"Hello people of Skyline! As you may have heard, the Lunar Unification Day will unite us with the five realms and we will be at peace. Five thousand years ago, we had found a planet full of life and tranquility"

Koi scoffed.

"We had lived on a planet called Earth before and we were living under fear, pain, and destruction, but when we felt that all was lost Hope was found. We have transported humanity to planet Hope and adapted to the new planet." Sir Matthews paused "ten years ago, we were attacked by creatures called Drainers"

Now this is what Koi was waiting to hear.

"They had attacked our people and stole their souls, energy, and all sense of life. They then were left as creatures we call Shells, like an empty shell of a person. Some Shells had gone on blind rampages even though they were scrapped of all sense and emotions, they were still able to cause a good amount of chaos across the country" the rest of the Council members stared at the cameras with calm smiles on their faces.

"They have continued to wreak havoc across the country to this day where more and more people go missing each day and are taken by the Drainers. And of course at the beginning of the year there was the Skyline Massacre, that had taken four hundred thousand people including one of our own Council members."

Ah yes the one actually decent Council member most likely wasn't an accident

"But the Lunar Unification Day will be here to unite us and make our lives better. And the day before the Lunar Unification we are having a ball at the Main Hall! And all citizens are invited!"

"Except the poor," added Koi.

Clara smirked "well I guess that I'll be going, unlike some little rat I know"
