(ps. I've used a Historical K-drama palace structure in my imagination)

Nothing happens during the meeting, and the tension seems to get lighter with time. The meeting gets over, and I walk past all the officers(noblemen) to leave the hall. I look at each of them... wondering how many are expecting to kill me, how many are rooting for the revealed treason.

For a fact, I know I can't trust any of them.

And if a king can't trust his fellow officials, it's a damn failure right there. I really wish I could know their thoughts. But I am no mind reader.

I walk out of the hall and meet the rest of the guards, including Bright. I give him a short smile, and we walk to the right in the corridor.

Suddenly, just after a few seconds, I hear whizzing sounds in the air, and when I turn back, I find the three soldiers that followed me lying dead on the ground with arrows in their chests and stomachs. Another arrow has hit the wall next to the corridor, inches away from Bright's face.

Bright quickly grabs me and pushes me to the wall, standing in front of me like a shield. Some guards come to my aid, and my head jerks toward the main gate as it opens and an army of soldiers dressed in full black pour in. I can approximately say the number of soldiers is at least less than the royal army.

"We are under attack!" one of the royal army soldiers downstairs yells, and he gets shot with an arrow. As I am on the first floor, I can see everything happening in a span of seconds. Around ten guards guard me, and I grab Bright's extra sword from him.

Just then, the meeting hall doors open, and I hear screams of men in there. Through the doors come out Duke Tawan, Duke Suppasit, Baron Gulf and six more betrayers with blood-painted swords. I see blood sprinkled all over their faces, and my body goes pale, remembering that Joss was also inside. N-no way. Did they kill everyone?

"Hold them. I'll take the Prince." Bright pats his comrade's back and grabs my hand. He quickly leads me toward the stairway upstairs, but I stop him.

"You got to be kidding me. I am not going to hide like a coward Bright. My soldiers are dying!" I exclaim, slapping his hand away.

"But his highness asked me to--"

"No. Make sure they are safe. I want to kill all these bustards one way or another. I am going downstairs."

Amid his cries of asking me not to go, I stubbornly run downstairs, and he quickly joins me. I find the enemy army scattered throughout the palace, slaughtering every soul on their way. Bright acts as my shield and makes his first kill as a soldier. Surprisingly he doesn't seem to be affected by that death.

Bright grabs and pulls me away from the enemies, killing around five men, and we make our way toward the entrance. Two armies led by Dew and Nani arrive just in time. And we quickly join them.

"Are my parents safe?" I ask instantly.

"They are, my Prince. Don't worry. We'll handle this situation." Dew says. They draw their swords, and the enemy army all gathers opposite us. From upstairs come the nine noblemen after slaughtering all the guards on the first floor. They smirk at my reaction and stand in front of us like they are some kind of heroes after killing the innocent.

Nani signals with his fingers, and a few archers appear with bows and arrows on the balconies.

"Oh, come on. That's all you got?" Duke Tawan chuckles.

"Shut up and accept defeat right now. It'll be less torturing if you do so." I give them a chance to back away. I hold my sword toward them, and they do the same. Bright and the other soldiers hold theirs with me, and I feel that we might win this fight.

"I could say the same to you. There's no way we'll let you become the future king. All the noblemen who attended the meeting are dead. There's no one to help you, my Prince. If you back away now, I can consider sparing your life after my son becomes the king." he says.

"Oh, that scarecrow son of yours?" I laugh at his words. "Over my dead body. I am telling you, Duke Tawan, I will give you one more chance. Because neither I am backing away nor letting you keep your son's ass on MY throne! I will fight to save it from my life! And my loyal soldiers won't back away either!!" I yell, my veins throbbing to come out. I feel so much anger that words cannot describe that feeling. I feel like I could kill each one of them one by one and slice them into pieces.

"You are too little to say words like that, Prince Metawin. Because if you think this is all we've got, you are too naive for the throne. Someone like you shouldn't achieve a great seat like that." he says.

"What have you got then? Your fricking ego? Because no soul will respect someone like you in the future, no one will respect a traitor, a pathetic puppet and a scardey cat like you. No one will like you, and everyone will plan to attack you from behind. If you think after this you can peacefully become the king, you are so wrong."

"Really?" he laughs, and others join his laugh.

"Really. Because I've worked my whole life to be the next successor to the throne. There's no way I am letting you take it so easily from me." I smirk.

"Laugh all when you can, little Prince," he says with another annoying laugh.

Then he looks in the direction of the entrance gates that are closed right now, and they open with a loud creak. Another army that's wearing black pour in. It is twice as large as the one that came before, and deep down, I break into a sweat seeing my chances fade away like that. They are heavily armoured and looking bulky, trained and all. There's no way--

All that blackness pours inside and joins the enemy side. Deep down, fear engulfs me for the first time, and I hear Bright whisper to me, "Do not fret or waver. Even if you do, don't show it. Most of all, don't lose hope. Because one way or another, we are going to win this."

His encouraging words give me confidence.

I stare back at the gates through which soldiers are pouring in.

Then my eyes catch a glimpse of a familiar figure coming with the soldiers, wearing light blue armour with a feathered hat, the colour similar to the feather we found that night—the hat which belongs to the murderer.

Of course... how did I forget? The Western clan always wore that attire with a sky-blue feather hat.

And that person is non-other... my best friend, Joss.
