I giggle to myself as I calculate the last few numbers. I add them up and look at the next numbers, blushing instantly. Prim sighs deeply as if she's tired of something. So I look at her only to find her already staring at me.
"Anything in my face?" I ask, puzzled.
"Thinking about that baker boy, twenty-four hours. That's something to be concerned about." she sighs. "Your highness should concentrate on work for now because you just missed a number here." she points out.
"Oh..." I quickly add that number. "Bright is getting into my head. He's running in my head all the time." I shake my head, muttering the words.
"I can see that. I bet now your highness knows what it ACTUALLY feels like to fall for someone." she smiles.
"Fall for someone... Have I?" I ask, keeping my writing brush aside.
"Obviously. I hadn't seen your highness being like this when you were with... Prince Plowden." she chuckles. "Good riddance."
"Shit. I almost forgot I had an ex like that." I bring my attention to the sheet of paper where I've done all the calculations of the amounts of goods that were in the royal storeroom in the past few years and the amounts that were used.
I frown at the paper and count the numbers carefully, "Did I miss something, or does this have a huge difference?" I point at the totals at the end.
"Oh my. It does have a huge difference." Prim says, looking confused.
I look at the past records once again and look at her, "Are you thinking what I am thinking?" I ask.
"Yes! So they've been cheating goods from the royal storeroom?" she asks.
"Yeah." I scratch my nape, and then I remember, "Can you go to the records room and get me the last three years' files? You can use my name to access them." I say.
She leaves the room, taking my order, and a smirk plays on my lips upon stumbling on this! I was only checking the totals to make an assumption of each year's budget for future usage but never even thought I would find out that the officers have been cheating on the goods. Wowow.
Two birds with one stone. So I will have not only the information against the noblemen but also the officers.
There's a knock on the door, and my head jerks in that direction, wondering how come Prim returns this early. I say, 'come in,' and the door opens. It isn't Prim. Instead, Bright comes inside with a smile. He greets me right away and walks toward me. I feel happy seeing him for the first time today. He keeps a book on my table.
"How was your third visit to Trost?" I ask, as I've selected him to be the secret messenger between the two knights and me. I wanted him to do something useful for the time being. And he surprisingly did it well and was unseen by others throughout the three visits during the two weeks.
