We look out of the window together. The view from my room of the palace grounds is outstanding as it is on the first floor. The workers are running here and there down on the grounds, carrying trays, flowers and whatnot. Everyone seems to be busy with the ballroom preparations.
I feel Bright's hands on my waist slowly caress circles as if to soothe me.
"You are stressed out." he kisses my neck.
I hum, "How can I not? We are talking about the noblemen here. They hold a shitload of power. And sometimes even a king can waver."
"But you shouldn't waver, you know. Never show it. Because if you do, it'll be for them, not for you."
"Absolutely." I lean on his hard chest, feeling his heartbeat against my nape.
"If it's about the ball today. Sir Jirawat appointed a few of my fellow folks to guard the hall. And some to be by the entrance to check whether the swords (in masquerade ball attire, a fake sword comes with it) are all fake. And the faces of every guest will be checked as well." he assures.
"I am not scared of my safety, Bright... Joss warned about the noblemen who left the meeting early that day. There's some bad news about them. Why do I feel like my father's in danger?" I frown and turn to face Bright. "Imagine... my father... being ceased. I won't be able to hold long. There's none for the throne."
Bright brushes my hair with his hands, and I close my eyes at the feeling.
"Nothing will happen to him, alright? Because I'll be by your side, by his highness's side, and I get to bear a real sword."
"Oh, my life saviour." I dramatically say and open my eyes. "You better be on the lookout, though." I turn my voice to serious. "But I doubt shit will happen tonight because... other kingdoms' royalty is attending as well. So the security will be tight. Still, something suspicious ought to happen. I just feel it."
"Okay. I'll do so."
I hold Bright's hair and pull him down for a small kiss.
"Let's get ready." I walk past him to my bed, where both our attires lie. "So, the maroon for me, according to you~" I pick my attire and walk to the washroom.
"Shall I change here?" he asks.
"Sure, go on. But don't let anyone see your smexy body."
I hear Bright's soft laughter at my words. But I am being serious. Hmph. His smexiness is only for my eyes. I am whipped. No one has to know.

Through the curtains, I watch the guests gather in the hall. I feel a light tap on my shoulder, and Bright motions me to move. Wearing the masks, I feel much better and less tense. We meet our parents by the entrance door. Father frowns in dismay at Bright's presence, but mother smiles.
