FLASHBACK

"Why didn't you get married, Appa?" I asked as he combed my hair.

"Why are you asking me that all of a sudden, Lili?"

"Hmm?" I thought. Why did I ask him? I don't know honestly. Was it because I felt how lonely he must have been before me? "I don't know. I just want to know."

"Well, because there was this one person who was special to me. But it wasn't the same for her. That's why."

"Do you miss her?"

"She was my special someone, so of course, I used to miss her. But not anymore because now I have you. Now, you are my special someone. Like soul mates." He said chuckling. I always loved his smiles.

"Soul mate? What's that?"

"Ah, how should I say it? A soul mate is a person who knows you very well like a best friend. A person who will stay with you and make you feel happy. A person who will give you the courage to change and accept changes. A person with whom you feel at home."

"Then, Appa is my soul mate." I turned around and hugged him.

He laughed and held me. "Oh my! My Lili is a big girl now." We both laughed. We were wrapped in a blanket of comfortable silence until he broke it. "Lili?"

"Huh!?"

"What if Appa is not there anymore?"

"Why? Are you going somewhere?"

He smiled slightly. I couldn't understand the meaning he hid behind that smile, then. "No. I wanted to know."

"Then, I won't have a soul mate."

He shook his head. "You have to look for your soul mate. Sometimes they will find you. And if they do, promise me you will hold on to them. Your special someone."

I nodded.

PRESENT

"You are special to me." I blurted out. I don't know why I said that or more likely, how I said that. I held my head low in embarrassment. I have no idea what Jennie's going to say. It's going to be very awkward.

Very good, Lisa. Way to destroy the moment.

But there was no response from Jennie at all. When I slightly looked up and glanced at her, I saw her cheeks were almost the color of a tomato. I guess it wasn't a bad idea after all. Jennie's soft side is still an amusement to me, but I like it. But I like her savage side more if that makes any sense.

We both sat in silence until my stomach decided to break it. It growled because I haven't had anything since morning. We both laughed, and I swear Jennie's laugh is the most beautiful thing I have ever seen.

"Shall we go eat something?"

I wanted to refuse, but my stomach betrayed me.

Jennie smiled again and got up, lending her hand for me to get up.

After eating and roaming around for some time and followed by some more minutes of pouting and her stubbornness we both decided to walk her home first.

*Jennie's POV*

It's already getting dark. The streets of Seoul are as busy as ever. A little gap between us was long forgotten as we got into the crowd. Our fingers brushed against each other as we walked. How can I explain that feeling? Can you imagine that one touch from the person you love that could send shivers down your spine, yet make you feel so secure?
