[Snap out of it - Arctic monkeys]
I was looking at my phone when there was a knock on the door and it opened shortly after.
As expected, Daniel and Mick appeared. Something in me brightened up immediately, since I could finally leave these four white walls.
Sure, I wasn't really in the hospital that long, but I'm still happy that I can finally get out again.
"Hey," I greeted them brightly. They came to my bed and Daniel was the first to hug me. Except for the short message from Mick and him, I hadn't really spoken to Dan after the crash.
"Oh god I'm glad to see you," he suddenly burst out, which made me laugh briefly.
Mick also gave me a hug.
"How are you?" Daniel asked.
"Actually I'm okay. My back and arm hurt a bit, but otherwise it's okay," I said to calm Dan, who still seemed quite upset, but after my words he finally calmed down.
"So," I began, "I'm really glad to see you again, but can we go? I really want to go home."
Mick and Daniel complied with my request and I quickly put my shoes on.
Danny took my bag and we left the hospital.Mick started the car, which started to move in the direction of the airport.
"I watched the race yesterday. You were really good," I began the conversation.
Daniel ended up on 5th place and Mick on 7th place.
"Yes, but it was a lot more difficult while we were worried about you," Mick answered and Daniel nodded in agreement.
"But thank God the worries were unjustified," I replied, looking into the distance.
"Besides, I didn't have that much time to think about the crash," I spoke now and started to grin slightly. Something told me to tell them both about Fabio's visit.
Danny caught my grin and asked, "Why not?"
"I had a visitor."
"By whom?" Mick now wanted to know too.
"Fabio drove to me after his race when I told him what happened," I said and my smile grew bigger when I said what he had done.
My two friends also got a smile on their faces when they heard it. They were happy for me. More than anything else. You could see that in their eyes.
"I don't think anyone would have seen that this would happen between us," I said and caught the two of them glancing at each other.
"Oh, we definitely saw that coming."
"Oh, yes," Mick agreed with Daniel.
I looked at them confused.
"Yeah, we said it after Pierre's party, remember?" Daniel reminded me.
I nodded slowly and chuckled, "You clairvoyants."
The two seemed content with that label and we fell into a comfortable silence while the music played in the background. Suddenly I heard the first notes of snap out of it.
I immediately got a smile on my face and my thoughts wandered to Fabio.
His ringtone...When we arrived at the airport, we quickly let Daniel out, who had to hurry a bit because there was a short traffic jam on our journey earlier, which delayed our arrival by half an hour.
After a hasty goodbye, Mick and I then made our way to Monaco, stopping briefly to get lunch.
The drive was quite long, but he and I had enough to talk about that we never got bored. We analyzed the whole race again, thought about what might happen next weekend in Spain and so on.
We didn't arrive at our apartment until evening, so we were both a bit tired, but it was still too early for bed.
Mick carried my bag into the apartment and then also into my room because he insisted.
I thanked him quickly, "Thanks, but I have to go to training very quickly now."
I felt Mick's confused gaze fixed on me as I left the room and walked down the hall.
"What are you going to do now?" he asked as footsteps sounded behind me, telling me he was following me.
However, I did not answer, but entered a room after a short time. Now he knew what I wanted to do.In our apartment we set up a kind of training room, in which you could train especially your reaction time but also a bit of physical stuff. There were also two race simulators.
If I couldn't prepare for the next race with my injured hand, then I could at least use the simulator so that I could virtually drive the route and memorize it again.
The race starts next week, but why not start training too early rather than too late.
I'll somehow manage to operate the steering wheel with one hand. Even if it's my weaker one."Oh Anni, you're definitely not going to drive with the simulator now," Mick said and pushed me out of the room before I could even enter it properly.
"And why not?" I wanted to know.
He led me back to my room.
"Because you just got home and it's better to rest than playing while I cook dinner," Mick explained to me.
"But-"
"Maybe later," Mick interrupted me.
"It's like having a child..." he mumbled under his breath and wanted to leave the room but turned around when I started to speak, "So the one who didn't know how to use a washing machine back then calls me kid... Interesting."
"That's different," he defended himself.
"Yeah sure..."
"Okay, now finally lie down and be quiet," Mick spoke frantically, which made me laugh.
Finally I did what I was told.
Well, but after dinner thank god I managed to persuade Mick and we completed a lot of laps on the simulator until it was after midnight.
