[Stolen Dance - Milky chance]

"What the hell are you doing?"
I suddenly heard Fabios voice, who had probably just come back from the bathroom. I just assumed it.
I didn't see it because I had my eyes closed.
"Meditation," I replied, still firmly anchored in a typical meditation position.
I heard a short laugh and felt my bed move down. Fabio sat down next to me.
"Are we to the point where the only solution is meditating?" he whispered close to my ear, making me wince, not expecting the closeness.
Now I opened my eyes and looked at him.
"Yes we are."

Today I'll meet Fabio's parents. And I couldn't be more excited and scared.

Fabio seemed to be able to read my mind and started reassuring me, "Hey, don't worry about it. They will like you. How couldn't they?"
"Let's hope so," I said and got up to find something suitable, which wasn't that easy since I hadn't brought anything with me for this event. I just found out about it yesterday!
"Is that okay?" I asked Fabio, who nodded with a smile.
"And what if they don't like it?"
"Oh, calm down. You look good in whatever you wear and they won't judge you for your clothes."
I halfheartedly tried to return his happy expression and made my way to the bathroom to do my hair.
"But what if-" I wanted to start and stopped my movement.
"Nika..." Fabio interrupted me in a warning tone.
"Okay," I whispered quickly and entered the bathroom.

After a few minutes, I came out with curly hair falling over my shoulders.
"Are you ready?" Fabio asked me, who was tying his shoes. He got up and came closer.
"You look beautiful by the way," he said, kissing me on the lips.
"Thank you," I smiled, but it froze shortly after, "Fabio, what if they don't like me? I'm serious!"
"They'll have to like you because I won't let you go anytime soon," Fabio replied, grabbing my hand, "But don't worry too much, okay? You're only getting to know a small part of my family today. My parents and my brother, who will probably also come later. All the relatives aren't coming by today. I don't want to introduce them all to you at once."
We looked at each other for a moment when Fabio started talking again: "Strange. You drive down racetracks at 300 km/h, but you're afraid of my family."
I shot back straight away, "Strange. You drive down racetracks at 300 km/h as well, but you're afraid of spiders."

In fact, there was an incident when I visited him some weeks ago.
We were sitting in the living room when Fabio suddenly noticed a spider above the TV.
All I can say is that I found his reaction really entertaining.
Eventually, however, I stopped his suffering and removed the spider.

"Okay, let's go," Fabio spoke, pretending not to hear my sentence.
I laughed out loud and together we set off.

On the way there, I managed to calm down a bit when Milky Chance's Stolen Dance came on the radio. This song somehow always managed to calm me down, even though I didn't really know why.
Unfortunately, however, my excitement returned when we arrived at the house. But now there was no going back, because he was already ringing.
We waited briefly and Fabio gave me an encouraging smile when the door opened.
A woman appeared in front of us who was smaller than me, which must have been his mother.
"Finally", she spoke in French and hugged Fabio, "I've been waiting. The food will be ready soon."
She broke away from him and it seemed as if only now she saw me. She eyed me.
"Just as you described her to me," she said and looked over at her son, who gave her a warning look. Apparently she shouldn't divulge too much of the conversation I didn't know about until now.
"Welcome to the family, child," she said, giving me a warm hug.
At least now the last trace of fear was gone. There was so much warmth and love in her hug that you could just feel safe.
We entered the house together.
"Anthony should be here soon," she continued in French.
I think Fabio must have told her that I spoke French, but I didn't ask him any more questions about it.
"You know your brother, punctuality was never his thing."
"Then I already have something in common with him," I answered, but stopped shortly afterwards.
I mean, we've only known each other for two minutes. Was I too frank?
But I heard a hearty laugh from Fabio's mother, who introduced herself to me as Martine, and drove away my worries.
Shortly thereafter we entered the dining room, which was connected to the kitchen.
Fabio's father was waiting there for us.
"Welcome. I am Etienne", he greeted me and shook my hand.
"Annika. Nice to meet you," I replied.
"I'm glad you came. Fabio has already told us a lot about you, he..."
Suddenly he was interrupted by Fabio, "Yes, you're just like mom. It's best if we change the subject. When will Anthony finally come?"
And at that very second the doorbell rang.
"There he is," Etienne said , adding, addressed to Fabio's mother, "I'll open the door."
Since Martine had already disappeared back into the kitchen, Fabio and I were alone in the dining room.
"So you were talking about me?" I asked with a grin.
"They always have to betray me and say those things out loud," he answered and couldn't quite suppress his grin either.
A few seconds later, voices could be heard in the hallway. Including children's voices.
"Ah perfect, he brought the kids with him," said Fabio, motioning for me to follow him into the hallway. I felt excitement again, which I then tried to suppress. I got along well with Fabio's parents. It will be the same with the rest.

I finally followed him and shortly afterwards we spotted the others.
Fabio greeted his brother and then turned his attention to the two children.
His brother saw me.
"Ah, you must be Annika. I'm glad to meet you. I'm Anthony, Fabio's brother," he said and greeted me.
He radiated a very positive energy and we got along great.
After Fabio finished his greeting, Anthony's children saw me.
The smaller boy froze.
Apparently Anthony knew why and whispered to me, "Oh, get ready. He's a total Formula 1 fan."
"I- Is that Annika Hinz?" He stuttered softly in French.
I smiled slightly and crouched down to be at eye level with the two.
"Yes, that's me," I replied, "but you can just call me Anni if you want."
The little one looked at me briefly when he started to smile and nodded.
I also introduced myself to the girl.
In contrast to her brother, she was a bit more open and direct, but that suited her and gave her a beautiful charisma.
"Dinner is ready," we suddenly heard Martine and together we went into the dining room.

And the day was wonderful. I got on really well with Fabio's family and the excitement before was completely for nothing.
In general, the whole weekend was wonderful.
Because it turned into one of my best race weekends. Not only did I get pole in qualifying, I also won the race.
And believe me when I tell you that this win felt ten times better knowing that Fabio was down in the audience watching me.
