[Fall in love with you - Montell Fish]
The days with Fabio were really nice.
We arrived late on Wednesday, which is why we went to bed straight away, since Fabio had to go to the racetrack early the next morning. But since it was only Thursday, he didn't stay there too long and was already home by noon.
We spent the rest of the day going swimming. We drove to the place that Fabio found back then.
Since it was summer now, the water was much warmer than it was back in March, so we were able to enjoy it without freezing to death.
Fabio was at the track longer on Friday and Saturday, but that wasn't too bad. I just followed his qualifying on live TV.At the moment it was Saturday evening and we were laying in the bed and were just about to go to sleep.
I laid on Fabio's chest, who wrapped his arms around me.
I was about to fall asleep when I suddenly felt something nudge me.
"Nika?" a voice whispered. It was Fabio.
"Yes?" I replied sleepily.
"I have to go."
"Fabio, what do you mean? It's half past ten in the evening, where do you want to go?" I asked and looked up at him.
He seemed to wait a moment before answering, but then he spoke, "I can't stand laying here anymore. I have to go to the cliff... To our place," he said.
Even if that wasn't the case at the moment, Fabio called the cliff our place for the first time.
I know, it wasn't important at the moment, but somehow I was pleased when the words came out of his mouth.
Our place...
Sounds good.
"Do you want me to come with you?" I asked.
He nodded.
Even if I wanted to go to sleep, I quickly put on warmer clothes, like Fabio, and we made our way to the pitch by motorbike.
We walked down the short forest path while I grabbed his hand.
"Is something going on?" I finally asked. The words didn't came out of my mouth earlier because I saw how fast he wanted to leave and I didn't want to lose time by starting a conversation.
"Why do you think so?" he replied innocently. There it was again. He just didn't really want to talk about his negative feelings.
"Well... You said you couldn't stand it anymore at home."
We finally stepped onto the cliff and, as always, sat on the edge.
Tonight the moon glittered beautifully on the water.
"I just need to clear my head for a moment. Like I told you before; this place is perfect for it."
He fell silent again and just stared off into the distance.
"Fabio, you can talk to me about it. What's bothering you?" I spoke hoping that I could open him.
However, he shook his head.
"Don't get mad at me, but I don't really want to talk about it. It has nothing to do with you, don't worry, I just don't like to discuss my... Worries."
"Can I still ask you something?"
"Always."
"Is it because of the race?"
I saw Fabio's hand clench and grip the rock more tightly.
He nodded so briefly that I almost missed it.
"Distract me," he said suddenly which made me give him a confused look.
"Please just distract me somehow. I want to think about something else," he spoke again.
My first reaction was to grab his hand. I just wanted to show him that I'm there.
He didn't want to share his thoughts, but I accepted that and just let him know there is someone who's there for him by simply taking his hand. I also agreed to his request, "Why did you decide to talk to me at the party?"
Fabio's face took on a surprised expression as the question came quite suddenly.
I was pretty surprised at myself too. A moment later, he got a small smile on his lips, telling me the question wasn't all that wrong.
"Back when we first met, I actually never really hated you. I know I treated you badly at the time, but it was just because I suddenly felt something that I never felt and the feeling scared me. I just didn't know how to react. When we saw each other in August, it was still like that. But I think the long time in which we didn't hear from each other was pretty good for me . During these months I had time to think and then finally understood that maybe what I felt was love."
I definitely wasn't expecting that answer.
"What?" I got out, my eyes widening slightly.
Fabio laughed quietly, "Yes, that's really how it was. Why do you think I knew about your world title back then? Sure, it was written everywhere, but I watched all the races and somehow always hoped that you would do well. You could also say that I'm your biggest fan."
I was still looking at him.
"Well, I really would have expected everything except that."
"Yeah, I'm always up for a surprise. Finally, I saw you alone at the party outside and I thought it was the right moment. But I also took a bit of a risk somewhere because of my feelings. I mean I already liked you that way but I never knew if it was really going to end like this or if we two would just be friends. Well the problem at the beginning was that I didn't know if you even wanted to talk to me, but thank god you talked to me and somehow it all worked out that way."
I laughed at him, "Yes, I guess I have to say thank you again for speaking to me."
If we already unpack our perspectives from that day...
"You know, when I found out that you were also at the party, I didn't want to go at first. But Daniel and Mick then persuaded me to come along. Danny also told me that the enmity between us might not be that big anymore, like it was in July. At the time I thought he was crazy, now we see how it ended."
"And I'm very happy that it ended like that!"Fabio and I talked a bit more and just sat there looking at the water.
After a while we drove back because we were both tired. I noticed that Fabio's expression was really different and more relaxed afterwards, which also made me happy.
I knew his mind was off the pressure now.
And once he was fine, so was I.
