Meanwhile back in New York City, Janine, Kylie, and Jenny were busy trying to finish the long-range PKE scanner in order to find the guys. Ron had begrudgingly agreed to help and had made some progress, but most of the unfinished parts were beyond his skills. Detective Ross had contacted her cousin and his partner about helping the team and the two had agreed to come to the firehall to assist once they gathered the necessary tools. So, while they were upstairs, their helper, Kevin Tanaka, was sitting at Janine's desk downstairs watching the phone.

"Did that detective lady say when these two engineers are showing up?" Ron grumbled as he fiddled with some wires.

"They should be here soon." Jenny replied.

"Well, they'd better hurry up cause I have better things to do..." Ron muttered.

"Like what?!" Janine yelled as she stormed up to him.

"Like not messing with this damn machine!" Ron yelled back as he stood up to meet Janine.

"Listen you jackass!" Janine yelled as she pointed a finger at Ron, "The guys have been kidnapped by two men who blame them for ruining their lives, are who knows where, and probably injured!"

"Aren't the police trying to find them?!" Ron snapped.

"Yes, but they don't have any leads and the guys could be dead by the time they find them." Jenny snapped back.

"Come on Ron, just do it." Bryan Walsh, known as "the Rookie", said.

"If I don't?"

"Then I'll fire you." Bryan snapped, "I'm still technically your boss."

Ron was quiet for a moment. "Fine..." he huffed as he began tinkering with the machine again.

"Can't believe I used to work for him..." Jenny muttered under her breath.

A knock on the front door was heard and Janine quickly ran downstairs and opened it. Standing there were two men, both in their mid-20s. One had blond hair, hazel eyes and a birthmark on the side of his neck. He wore a t-shirt, jeans, and boots. He held several leather, presumably his tools.

The other man was Asian-American, wearing a green button-up shirt, jeans, loafers, and glasses. He too held a leather bag and also held a packed notebook.

"Hello, you must be the men Detective Ross told me about." Janine said.

"Yes." The blond man said as he reached out his hand, "I'm Dr. Jonathan Ross and this is my partner Dr. Adam Chieng."

"Janine Melnitz, secretary and head of staff for the Ghostbusters." Janine said as she shook Jonathan and Adam's hands.

"We've been fans of the team for a while." Adam said as he shook Janine's hand, "And it's an honor to be able to do work for you."

"Wish it was under better circumstances though." Janine sighed.

"Us too. How much time do we have?" Jonathan asked.

"Don't know, but I don't think a lot." Janine said as she guided them towards the stairs.

"Considering the Ghostbusters have been missing for about three days and are who knows where, we probably need to work fast." Adam said.

The three came upstairs and entered the lab where Ron was still working on the machine.

"Everyone, this is Dr. Jonathan Ross and Dr. Adam Chieng." Janine said, "Dr. Ross, Dr. Chieng, this is Jenny Moran and Kylie Griffin, two of our staff. And those two are from our Chicago branch, Bryan Walsh and Ron Alexander."

"Nice to meet all of you." Jonathan said.

"Thank you so much for coming on such short notice." Kylie said.
