Devon's POV:
"Nah, she was fit as fuck. Just hope my girl don't find out" I watch as two guys chat to each other as I stack the shelves. One of the guys- my co-worker, clearly not doing his job. I watch as they interact and the things they say and wonder if this is what it would have been like in the popular gang if I had gotten in.
I shake my head and refill some drinks in the fridge, this store has everything really. Just random bits you may need, I sigh and glance outside the windows into the mall, it's quite empty today. But it is a early Monday morning.
My brows furrow as my eyes land on Levi, sitting on a bench. Legs spread out with his elbows on top of his knees and his head resting in his hands as he watches the floor. I glance around, wondering what he is doing then I question myself.
Why do I care? I don't, I'm just curious as to why he is just sat there looking... well, however Levi expresses sadness.
I sigh and my manager walks by which is the perfect opportunity, most of the staff just leave for breaks but I like to ask first. "Hey, Linda?" I question with a small smile, she stops in her tracks to look at me and she starts to smile herself. She's a woman in her forties, dirty blonde hair and dark green eyes, a lovely woman.
"Yes dear?" Yet she talks as if she's in her sixties, I glance at Levi quickly.
"Would it be possible to have a short break now? I stacked the fridge and I've done the-" she cuts me off with a light laugh.
"Of course it is sweetie, I mean look around you've basically done everything there is to do and it's not even 9am yet. Can't say that about others" she says, her face forming a scowl as she glances to the boys who were chatting before. One of my coworkers which is her son, I smile at her and give her a shy nod, I find her really sweet.
I get outside and sigh, "what are you doing here?" Levi snaps his head up and he starts grinning already, in the short time I've known him (only a few months) I have already picked up on his body language and what each facial expression means.
A smile for a normal person usually means they're happy, but not for Levi. He has his own way of seeing the world, it's as if no one ever taught him how to be a human when he was younger. Like he was never with all the other kids so he never picked up on anything. "Well hello there" he says with his smile.
I stare at him for a moment and he continues with a frown, "not a morning person eh?" I fold my arms and he puts his up in surrender. "Alright jee, tough crowd" he glances behind him and turns back to me, he leans out on his chair- the bench. As if he has something secret to say.
"Am I not allowed to be here, does this bench belong to someone?" He pulls a face, showing his teeth and hissing like he did something bad.
I roll my eyes at his antics, "didn't say that, just wondering why you're here" he doesn't reply so I glance around awkwardly, "you okay?" I question and he snorts.
"Why wouldn't I be?" He raises a brow and folds his hands together like he is intrigued to hear what I have to say. The last time we saw each other we came into this shopping centre, we got groceries for his house and everything they needed. Then Val got off his back.
I shrug at him, "I don't know, you're here on a Monday morning doing nothing. Why aren't you at work?"
He rolls his shiny eyes and rubs at them, "ugh, not you too. I've been fired" I watch him for a second then I think about what Val said, how pissed he looked for Levi being late to work.
"Wow, really?" He nods and looks bored of this conversation already "what did Val say?" He looks up to me and pulls a face, like he's speaking to an idiot of some sort.
