"It's not that I hate you being over here twenty four seven-" Issy starts but pauses to rethink. "Well I mean, I'm not overly joyed about that either. But what I'm trying to say it, stop stealing all the tea" she glares daggers at me. Her hand in the tea bag pot, pulling out nothing but air.
I glance towards Devon who's currently being my foot stall as we both sit on the sofa, he seems unbothered as he continues to watch TV. Some old cartoons playing, he's into that stuff so I'm watching it just for him.
Because I'm trying to learn how to be nice.
I shrug in a nonchalant way that has Issy giving me a deadpanned expression, "you snoze you lose" she puts down the pot and groans excessively. Before stroming out of the room, I look to Devon who raises three fingers. He slowly puts one down, then another one until his hand is nothing but a fist.
Then suddenly Issy's door to her room bursts open and she storms out, her coat on and bag around her shoulder. She groans as she flees to the door and before she leaves she sticks up her middle finger at me. To which I blow her a kiss at.
When she's gone I snort, "you have one dramatic sister there" Devon chuckles and pulls me closer to him.
"Yeah well, I have to put up with that" he smiles before bringing my chin closer to him with his finger. He leans in and pecks me on the mouth and when we part I can feel myself turning pink.
So I hide myself in his shirt.
The rest of the day we watch cartoons, Lola sits on us as we do and when Issy comes back she has fully restocked the kitchen. I finally get up and make myself tea again to which she sighs deeply at, then I go back to watching the cartoons.
At midday Issy starts baking a cake and Devon's hand winds up in my hair, the fresh smell of baking hits my nose and I feel my eyes droop when Devon's fingers scratch soothingly at my scalp. Just the way my mum used to when I was a kid. I fall asleep with in an instant.
It's probably the fastest I have ever fallen to sleep.
When I wake, I wake up to Lola hitting my nose every so often with her paw. I pick her up and put her on the ground, sitting up. "Finally awake I see" Devon says and I look up to the kitchen. He walks my way with a plate and a nice serving of a cake on top.
Handing me a fork I dig right in, not having eaten the whole day. And by the looks of it it's quite late now, with it being dark outside.
"This is good" I saw with a mouthful of sponge cake and coloured icing in my mouth. He laughs a bit and nods, digging into his own slice.
"Yeah, this is my second slice. Issy really knows how to bake a good cake" I nod in agreement and wolf the rest of the cake down. Suprised I didn't choke myself.
When I'm done I place the plate down and sigh, "I'm bored" I say and look to Devon who playfully rolls his eyes.
"How can you be bored? You just woke up" I nod at that.
"Exactly" I reply with a shrug and he shakes his head.
"You're always got to be doing something, haven't you?" I nod at that, seems about right. If not I get agitated, I do dumb stuff that will likely get me in trouble.
And I'm trying to change.
So, Devon and me go for a little walk. It's pitch black outside and I look up into the sky. Stars are twinkling and the moon is full, shining down at us. It feels like a movie, which doesn't happen a lot in my life. Why would they make a movie about a messed up teen with tragedy running through his veins.
They wouldn't. But they'd make a movie out of this scene right now, a romantic one I'd like to think. Devon's hand reaches out for mine and I bite my lip, hard enough that it probably will bleed.
