TW - Swearing, childbirth

Eddie helped me out of the wheelchair, pulling down my skirt and underwear that were now soaked as I stood. I'd managed to kick my damp shoes off and Eddie helped me up onto the bed, grunting as I pulled myself up. "Arms up, missus!" Eddie announced, pulling the bottom of my hoodie and T-shirt up over my chest, then over my head and raised arms. I chuckled as he pretended it got stuck on my head. I took my bra off whilst Eddie pulled the hospital gown open and held it up for me to pop my arms in, once on my arms, Eddie leant around me and tied it loosely around my neck and back. Eddie continued helping me onto the bed again, making sure the pillow was sitting in place behind my head, I tired to lay back and get comfortable, spoiled by the sudden onset of another fucking contraction.
"Ahh! Eddie!" I called out, grabbing hold of his hand and squeezing it tightly in mine, my knuckles and his fingers turning white from the grasp.
"Breathe, princess. In 1-2-3-4, out 1-2-3-4, again 1-2-3-4 and out 1-2-3-4..." Eddie soothed, I copied his breathing for a while until the pain subsided.
"Thank you, Ed's." I said sleepily, I was already exhausted, I just wanted to sleep.

"Good afternoon, Miss Carver! A little early but she is a determined young lady you've got in there!" my OB-GYN joked as he entered the room, I tiredly smiled and waved at him as he washed his hands and popped on some gloves.
"Hi Doc, reckon I'll have my hands full with these two!" Eddie chuckled as he kept hold of my hand.
"Indeed Mr Munson! Right Miss Carver, shall we check how far along we are?" he asked, I hated that he'd always say 'we', I mean, it's me sat here about to push a watermelon out of my fucking body. I kept my cool and just nodded with a polite yet weary smile. He pulled a little stool up to the end of the bed before folding the blanket over my knees, he scooted the stool forward and then vanished behind the blanket. "Okay, ready?" he asked, "No, obviously, but as if I have a fucking choice!" I thought, but again, kept my cool and nodded as I hummed confirmation. I felt his cold gloved fingers slide into me, causing me to wince a little, "Sorry, almost done... mhmm..." he muttered before pulling his hand back and standing up. "Okay, about 4cm at the moment. Plenty of time still!" he reassured me as he removed his gloves and washed his hands again. "Try to get some rest and the time will fly by!" he poorly reassured me before signing some paperwork and leaving the room.

- Eddie POV -
Y/N managed to drop off to sleep, only disturbed a couple of times when she had a contraction. Even them she only really grimaced in her sleep. She hadn't even had any drugs yet, I'm impressed. Shortly after she dozed off Wayne arrived, he popped in to see her but didn't wanna wake her right now so I stepped out into the waiting room to chat with him. Steve and Robin had gone to find some food for when she woke up so it was just the two of us.

"How you doing kid?" Wayne asked,
"Pretty scared actually. Terrified." I chuckled, rubbing my hands over my face. It was true, I was so cool and calm in front of Y/N but on the inside I was shitting myself. All the books I'd read don't really prepare you for this, they're great at explaining what to expect, but as far as how you're meant to feel... no help at all.
"You'll be fine, son. She's a tough girl, just do what she asks and be there for her. And as for after that, it'll all come naturally once you see that baby.", Wayne was so calm and reassuring for a guy who had never had kids.
"What if I fuck it up, Wayne? It's not like I know what a good dad's meant to look like." I chuckled, thinking about his shitty my dad was.
"I didn't know what I was doing the day you moved in. I just had to wing it. You'll do the same and it'll all work out!" he chuckled.

I don't know why but I anyways ended up underestimating Wayne. I was really young when he took me in, a real bachelor until then. I really do need to give him more credit sometimes. "Thanks Wayne. For everything, by the way..." I reached out and hugged him, he patted my back before letting me go.
"Eddie..." I heard Y/N groan from inside the room,
"I guess that's my cue!" I chuckled before standing up and walking towards the door. "I mean it, Wayne. I can't thank you enough, you know..." I smiled, trying to blink back tears.
"I know, kiddo... now don't come back out here without my granddaughter!" he chuckled, wiping his eyes of the tears that threatened to fall.
