Tyler's P.O.V
Wanna come over to my house after school? -James
I got this text at the beginning of class, I'm not sure how I should respond. I think I'll wait a little bit longer before I respond.
"Tyler how was your break?" Mr. Green comes up and sits beside me where one of Dallas's friends usually sits but she's not here. "It was good" I want to keep this as brief as possible.
"I see you changed your hair" of course he wants to keep this going, "Yeah" I turn away from him, maybe that'll make him leave me alone.
It seems to work as he goes up to the front and starts going on about our assignment for this week. I feel my phone buzz in my pocket, I pull it out expecting another text from James concerning his earlier question but it's from Daniel.
After fifth period could you take Vivian home? I've already called and checked her out she said she'd go wait by your car, she's been having a bit of a rough day. -Daniel
Yeah I can -Me
I wonder what happened today to make it bad. "Dallas" I whisper across the table, "Yeah?" We both keep our attention on Mr. Green so he doesn't suspect anything.
"Should i go over to James after this?" his head quickly flicks over to nine, "Definitely, I see you two together ya'll are so cute. And you in his jacket, oh my god it's adorable" well I guess I better respond to James.
Yeah I'll come over, I have to drop Vivian off at home first -Me
Okay, I'll send you my address -James
So, am I going to be meeting parents or anything? -Me
No, they won't be home till about six and I have to be at work at five. So unless you wanna stay around by yourself to meet them you'll be home by then -James
Okay, phew. I was not ready to meet them today, too soon.
Class zooms on by and I make my way to the parking lot where Vivian is sitting on the ground by my car, her back pressed against it with her head tilted up to the sky and her eyes closed.
I get to where I'm standing almost next to her, "Vivian?" she slowly opens her eyes and looks at me "You ready" she doesn't say anything, just gets up and waits for me to get to my door to unlock the car.
She gets in and just slumps in her seat. I pull out of the parking lot and she turns to look out the window, "Okay what's wrong, this isn't just about Kyle anymore" I was expecting her to start crying but instead she sighs.
"The school showcase is this Friday. Me and my friend Rebecca were supposed to perform in it, she was gonna sing and I was gonna play piano along with her. We were supposed to be the closing act, but now she has to get her wisdom teeth out the day before so she can't do it anymore. So now I either have to find someone else to do it before then or drop it." she leans her head back against the headrest.
"Can we play some music" she flops her head over to me and uses her pleading eyes and pouty lips. "Well, no radio. But you could play it through your phone and put it in the cupholder" it sounds so jank but whatever.
She pulls out her phone then starts up a fun up-beat song, and sets her phone in the cupholder.
You think I'm pretty without any makeup on
You think I'm funny when I tell the punchline wrong
I know you get me
So I let my walls come down, down
