Tyler's P.O.V

I woke up at five-thirty to start getting ready. I dressed in my usual attire plus a Colombia zip-up for extra warmth. I pulled my hair into a low ponytail and feed Chewy.

I go downstairs and Daniel is in the kitchen eating breakfast. "I made you a plate." he nods to the plate on the island next to his, "Thanks." I say going to the fridge to get an apple juice.

"Were you serious last night, when you told James that you wouldn't let me see him anymore if I got home late?" I look up at him and take a bite.

"Not a hundred percent, I know he makes you really happy I couldn't take him from you like permanently. But if he gets you home late again maybe I'll have to suspend him from you." he chuckles at the end.

"So how'd you get me approved for a ride-along?" I finish my food and drink my juice. "Well I'm a Sargent so they can't really deny me." he shrugs with a smile.

I put my dishes in the sink, throw my bottle away and take my insulin. "Okay you ready?" he asks as I zip up my little backpack with my insulin and stuff.

"Yeah." I say and we head out the front door, "Okay when we get to the station we have to get you a pass, you're going to have to go through a metal detector to make sure you have no weapons on you. And they'll go through your bag, it'll go through an X-ray machine like at the airport. Now since you have needles they'll go through your bag but it'll get tagged as medical so you can carry it." he says backing out of the driveway.

The drive to the station is only about fifteen minuets, he parks his car by the other troopers and we head in. We get to the metal detectors and Daniel takes off his belt and puts it and his phone in the plastic tub on the side, he walks through then it's my turn.

I take off my backpack and put it and my phone in the next tub and go through, the machine beeps. This catches all the cops around us attention, I look at Daniel he looks confused, "My Dexcom." I whisper and place my hand over my shirt where its at.

He nods and looks to the guy working the detectors, he's scanned my bag and of course, that causes more alarms with my needles. "She's diabetic, she has a Dexcom on, and in the bag is her insulin." the guy nods handing me my stuff back. He nods us on signaling that we can continue on our way.

"Another reason I hate diabetes," I mutter as we head down the long hallway, I hear Daniel laugh behind me. "You know I don't know why I agreed to come here, cops make me nervous." I say as we pass a group of them by the coffee machine.

"Why?" he asks holding a door open for me, "I don't know, just something about yall is frightening. Like when you wear regular clothes you're like a teddy bear, except when you're threatening James of course. But the second you're in your uniform it like freaks me out." I look over at him and he has this expression on his face, not of like hurt or anything but I'm not quite sure how to explain it.

"Okay, let's get you a pass then I can take you to my office." he goes to this box and pulls out a pass and puts it on a lanyard handing it to me. I put it on and we leave the room and go down another hall.

We get to an office that has a little plaque on it that says 'Sargent'. "So I need to do something real quick then I can give you a tour and we can hit the road." he sits behind his desk and pulls out some files.

"So even though you're a Sargent you still do rounds and stuff?" I sit in the chair across from his desk. "Yeah, I really liked being on the street, being a Sargent just gives me more power and better pay." he scribbles some stuff down then closes the file and stands up.

He goes to the door and I follow him, we leave and head out to a big room with a bunch of desks and cops all around.

He stops at a desk where a young guy with red hair sits. "Here's that report you needed." he says putting it down on the officers' desk, "Thanks, who's this?" he asks looking at me.
