Kitty was behind the bar mixing drinks but she thought about the day before. She can't say Admiral Kazansky was someone close to her but he was always kind when she used to meet him.  Beside seeing suffering of Sarah Kazansky and Pete Mitchell was terrible. Kitty couldn't help but thought Admiral was sick for a while and died surrounded by his family and friends. But What if he died on one of the missions? Alone? Can a man or a woman ever get used to the enormous risk of death for those he loves far from them? The dead probably don't care about that anymore. They have their peace. But the rest remains.

Death is usually worse for this who stayed even if it is salvation for this who are gone.

Could she handle it? Could she wait for the news every day, knowing that her beloved one could die at any moment?

-Hi sweete. - Penny nudged her hip sympathetically - Are you sleeping awake?

-Well my dreams seem better then reality - Kitty rolled her eyes.

-So make your dreams a reality. - Mom muttered and at this time she pointed to one of customers.-Phone on the bar-she cried and rang the bell.

-Round on you man-Kitty laughed and put her arm around her mother just to see the smile die on Penny's lips. Girl followed her gaze and saw Maverick. He wore White uniform of the Navy and had the most serious look Kitty had ever seen on his face.

-Mom? - she asked carefully.
But her mother didn't listen.

Penny stood froze and looked at Maverick. Mom and her captain started at each other and went out together.

-Okay. - Kitty whispered - You know nothing, Katherine Benjamin.

-I see why Rooster like you. - She heard. - You are both strange...

Kitty turned back to see fair-haired aviator.

-Doctor strange? - She asked.

-Doctor who? - Jake Seresin smirked.

-Doctor Quinn. - She showed him a tongue. - What can I get you, Hangman?

-Nothin'. I have to go back to base and prepare myself.

-For what? - She interrupted him.

-For a mission.

-What?! When?

Hangman hesitated.

-Tomorrow-He admitted.

-What?!

-I can't tell you more Kit.-He raised his hands. - You know that. And I suppose Rooster want to tell you on his own.

-So why are you here? - Kitty raised an eyebrow.

-Well. - He cleared his throat. - That's not easy so shut up and listen. I want to - Hangman coughed - I want to apologise. For my behavior when we met. You know I am a soldier I can die every day so I would like to have a clear conscience.-Jake hesitated - And Coyote made me do this. - He confessed.

-Why? - Kitty smiled.

-I don't know I didn't listening.

-So why?

Hangman looked at her seriously.

-Because colleagues' girls are untouchable. I don't want to go on this mission with Rooster and thinking about you, about another reason to hate each other. So here I am. And I'm sorry.
