"June, can you come down to the station?".
"Now?".
"Yes or we can meet at Abby's".
I looked up at the watch then took a deep breath."Let's meet at Abby's".
Luke called asking us to meet, he must have found something about the picture and he called me June, he did find something. He only calls me that if he needs something from me or he's really happy and I know he doesn't need anything from me meaning he's happy. I looked up at Damien not eating his food.
I promised him I'd stop treating him like he's dying but I can't help it, he was on the floor shivering like crazy. That scared me and the fact that he doesn't want to go to the doctor makes me feel even more scared, I mean he should go get a check up. I need to leave but I don't want to leave him alone but I can't bring him with me to meet Luke, that'd make him not tell me what he knows.
"You haven't eaten".
He sighed."I told you, I'm not hungry".
"And I told you, food is important, especially breakfast".
"Shouldn't you be going somewhere?".
I gave him my most intimidating look, he just stared at me."Fine but if you need me, call and if you don't feel well, call me".
"I'm fine, go".
"I'll knock off early today".
I got up taking both our plates, leaving them on the rake, I took my bag then walked up to him, giving him a kiss on the head. He looked up at me and I held his jaws looking him in the eyes, he frowned then moved back making me let go of his jaws. I got me an apple and walked out, I opened the door again.
"Eat something, Damien, anything or I'm dragging your ass to the hospital".I said pointing at him.
He just nod, I slightly smiled closing the door then got out, I don't feel okay with leaving him alone after last night, I really don't but he's way too stubborn to listen to me. I listened to my messages on my way to Abby's, my ex boss's PA giving me the update on my case which is no update at all, Sipho missing me and dad.
He never gives up, he wants to know if I'm coming to Devin's wedding and the answer is no, it'll always be no, I don't even know who Devin is, he's probably one of his many associates or one of the sons. Me showing up will make him look good, I would have said sure dad, that'll give me a chance to hook up with as many strangers as I want in one place but I didn't I just played the following message.
My older sister telling me about her day and how hard it is to keep her pregnancy a secret from everyone else, her best friend knows by now. I like her, she knows the meaning of mind your own business and she minds hers, I smiled at Samkelo's voice in the background telling me how much my sister eats lately, she sighed at the thought of telling him.
I got in the diner already looking around, Luke not even eating, he and Damien are so much alike, they both don't smile much, they don't eat much if they are in a good mood or in a bad mood, otherwise they eat like crszy and they have no sense of humor whatsoever. My dad hates them both, the only difference is that Damien doesn't annoy me as much as Luke, I also sat down.
"Olwethu, hi".
"Luke".
"Before we start, I'd like to apologize for kissing you".
I looked up at him wanting to laugh as loud as I can."Yeah, sure".
"Since you shared the picture with me there's something I need to tell you".
"What?".He pulled out a police report and an autopsy report."I already have those".
He shook his head pointing down at the time, it reads five hours before the reports I have, he then pointed down at the notes signed by both the doctor and his captain. It didn't take me that long to read the entire page leaving me shocked and confused.
