A/N Cannon after the season 11 finale.

It's been a week.

She's been staying at Arizona's.

Between forcing herself to get out of bed and locking herself in the guest bedroom she hasn't seen him much. She's giving him time.

She didn't know what to do.

He's been cutting down his work time.

When saw her last week he couldn't breathe, he needed time.

The time he didn't spend at the hospital, he was laying in their bedroom, on her side of the bed. He clinged to her favorite sweatshirt that she left at the house.

He didn't know what to do.

He thought back to the first time she kissed him, his heart skipped a beat. When his best friend was so confident.

He can't believe that was four years ago already, it felt like just yesterday they met. It felt like just yesterday when his bestfriend was crying in his arms and he was slowly but steadily falling in love with her.

"Jackson?" A soft voice called from the kitchen, inturupting his thoughts. Jackson suddenly sat up and stuffed the sweater beneath the pillow. He got out of bed and walked down the hall, he knew who the voice belonged to. The one he called the one.

He walked into the living room and saw his wife standing in the kitchen. She nervously looked up at him. "Hi," she whispered.

Jackson took a shaky break, "hi." He walked closer to the kitchen.

"Are you busy?" She asked hopeful. He shook his head, "can you come with me? I just- I wanna show you something."

Jackson nodded, "okay."

They drove about 20 minutes then April pulled over to a turn stop. She parked the car and faced him. "Do you know what happened here?"

"Of course I do, I proposed to you." He said.

April nodded and unbuckled, she opened the door and swung around to the passenger side of the car. She opened his door and he stepped out.

"Last time we were here, you were fighting for me. This time, I'm fighting for you." April took a deep breath, " I need you Jackson. I've needed you since we we're grieving the loss of Charles and Reed. I can't live without you. I can't lose you, I won't survive. I'm in this all the way. I love you so much, I'm not giving up. I'm not letting go without a hell of a fight." Jackson looked at her, in a way she hardly ever saw. She couldn't read this face, April looked down shyly. "I know I need to work on my wife skills. We both haven't had any experience with marriage before but I don't even know what you thinking right now which I should, you were my best friend and now-"

Suddenly Jackson took a step forward and pressed his lips to hers. He rested his hands on her waist and she placed her hands on his elbows. "I wasn't expecting that." She admitted.

He moved a hand to her cheek, "I was hoping for that answer." April smiled and wrapped her arms around his waist. She rested her head on his chest.

"I'm sorry I haven't been a very good wife." She wrapped her arms around his neck. "Wanna go home and talk about our feelings?"

"I have a better idea of what we could do," he said gently biting his lip.

April playfully slapped his chest, "Jackson Avery."

"What I missed you," he replied simply.

April smiled and gently guided his head lower towards hers. He rested his forehead on hers, "I'm sorry, Jackson." April said her voice breaking, "for everything, I should have paid, more attention to you. I was being selfish. I'm so sorry."

Jackson placed his hand on the crook of her neck, "I know you are. We're worth fighting for."

She smiled and captured his lips in hers. Jackson arched over April, she giggled when he placed his hand on her lower back. She slowly pulled away and gave him on more peck before she opened her eyes.

"So, we're going to go home and discuss everything that happened while I was away." She whispered, "I'm sorry I didn't do this earlier. I wasn't thinking, I- I love you Jackson. More than anything in the world."

He gently moved his hand to her cheek, "I love you too."

One year later

Combat Zone

"Kepner," Hunt called from across the tent, "we're heading out in 5."

April nodded, she looked at a picture of her and Jackson in Lake Tahoe and smiled. She placed it under her pillow, and stood from her cot. She walked to the entrance of the tent and looked around the wide space not a cloud in the sky.

She felt so content, such a small part in this big world. She walked to the jeep, and sat beside him and Owen. She looked at him and smiled.

"Hey, you're in the jeep already. You're getting better at this," she giggled.

He chuckled, "well I learned from the best."

"Well I'm loving the uniform Mr Avery." She whispered, "very sexy."

When they got back from the scene, it was very late so all the doctors were getting ready to get to sleep. Jackson and April pushed two cots together, because Jackson felt he needed to have his arms around her. April of course, found it adorable so she pushed them together, it wasn't the most comfortable this but they would manage for the 2 more months they were staying here.

Jackson faced her and rested his hand on her cheek. "So 2 more months of this and we'll go home?"

April nodded, "yup, and then, we'll start our family."

Whoop, there it is! I really hope you enjoyed this one! I know it seems kind of rushed, amd happens very fast. But I guess short and sweet. It's what I'm kind of picturing, excluding the part of 1 year later. But I hope you get it! I think I'm going to post more of different situations that could possibly happen with their coming up story line.

I'm really excited to see where the writers are going to go with it! Comment what ideas you have about it! I also love to here what you think!
