The Multiverse

A/N: It has been so long since I posted a one shot and I miss writing for Catherine and Bucky so much. This is going to be a little different. As many of you know there will be more Avengers movie. Many have predicted that the next movies will focus on the multiverse and it getting screwed up somehow. I just wanted to do my take on it. This is a few years after the end of Infatuation. Enjoy!

Catherine was quite tired of experiencing end of the world moments. She was equally tired of trying to save the world. This time was different though. There was no Thor's adopted brother or an android her brother created or a giant purple alien. No, Kang was just incredibly smart and used the fact that Dr. Strange, Wanda and America Chavez had opened up the multiverse. She remembered when Stephen came to Bucky and her house to discuss what had happened.

It wasn't the craziest thing they had ever heard. Part of her always assumes that they were other timelines out there. She just tried not to think too hard about it. Then they mentioned Kang and how he had opened up the multiverse and people who didn't belong in their timeline were entering it and messing things up further. Stephen needed their help. It didn't take long for her to be accidentally seperated from Bucky while they tried to move people back into their timelines.

She didn't need Bucky to do her job. It was just slightly frightening being alone in different timelines. They were instructed to be extremely cautious. They could not do anything that mess the timeline up. Something was simple as running into the wrong person could have horrible effects. So far, Catherine had been careful. Nothing bad had happened until she stepped through a door and found herself in an unknown hallway with no way out.

Fuck, she muttered to herself as looked around. Normally the portal to the next timeline would stay open behind her, but not that time. She pressed her finger to the com in her ear, but heard nothing. She lifted her arm up and looked at the screen to see where she was. Timeline 19016. In other words, not the one she belonged in. It wasn't registering anyone from her own timeline either. She let her arm fall to her side and she glanced around again.

She was in a house. A large house by the looks of it. Two French doors where the portal opened up sat in front of her. Two small tables sat on either side of the doors with a fresh bouquet of flowers on each. The floors were made of polished marble that gleamed when the light caught it. Marble. She froze. She had seen this same image before in a dream once. Well, she wasn't even sure if it was a dream. It was more like when she was dying.

"Who the hell are you and what are you wearing?" An annoyed, feminine voice came from behind her.

Catherine didn't want to turn around. She knew that voice very well. She just hadn't been expecting it. She contemplated a few scenarios in her head in a matter of seconds. Stephen had told her that once they fixed the multiverse anyone they met would have no memory of seeing them, so she slowly turned around and came face to face with herself. Her other self looked to be around fifteen years old. She had on some sort of school uniform and her hair hung down around her face. She looked so young.

Catherine looked down at the suit Tony had made all of the Avengers back when they faced Thanos. She could see how it could look odd to other people, but she actually liked it. Her younger self stared at her with an annoyed look. She was surprised that younger Catherine wasn't freaking out about a stranger being in her house. Then, slowly, but surely. The realization started to settle into herself. Catherine looked pretty similar to the way she did when she was a teenager. Her face was a little rounder and had a few signs of aging at her age of 32 though.

"You...how...Dad!" Younger Catherine yelled.

"No, no. Don't do that." Catherine stopped herself when she heard her call for her dad. Were her parents alive in this timeline. "Wait. Dad? Is your-our dad alive?"
