A/N: No one requested this, but I thought it might be fun to see Bucky and Catherine's reaction to the Steve Rogers Musical. This takes place approximately six months after the end of Infatuation. Enjoy!
"I can't believe we let Scott talk us into going to see a freaking musical. Particularly a musical about Steve." Catherine grumbled as she pulled her beige coat over her black turtleneck.
"We could bail." Bucky told her while he leaned against the kitchen cabinet watching Catherine get ready in a frenzy.
She stopped walking and shot him a look. "That would be rude. Scott's really excited too. Plus, we get to get in for free and Pepper is watching William. This may be the last time you and I can go out before baby number two makes her appearance."
Bucky's eyes shifted down to his wife's growing stomach. She wasn't showing too much yet, but it was definitely starting to be noticeable especially when she wore a tighter shirt. Pregnancy suited her in his mind despite how difficult it could be on her body. To him, Catherine was even more beautiful. She had cut her hair weeks ago and now it was short, just touching her shoulders.
Her face was slightly fuller than before. She had put make up on for the first time in a while. Not that she needed it. She was always busy it seemed since her new position started. Helping to run an agency was not easy, but to Bucky, she was doing the best she could. It meant late nights, but she was making a difference. What lingered in the back of her mind and the reason behind her urgency to go see a musical was that it was almost the one year anniversary of Tony and Natasha's death.
One year since Bucky came back. One year since they saved the world again. It wasn't an easy time in Catherine's life. She missed her brother everyday. She would have done anything to see him again.
"My millionaire wife is excited to get into something for free?" He teased.
"I was thinking it was nice that the people running the show let us in for free." She reiterated. "Are you ready?"
"I am." He told her as she walked by him. He reached out gently to stop her before pulling her into him. "Hey, try to have a good time. Okay? You deserve it."
Catherine looked up at him feeling tears starting to burn in her eyes. Damn hormones. She couldn't cry. Not right now. Not after she just spent time on her make up. "I will try."
Bucky pressed a soft kiss to her forehead and then the two of them walked to the car. The drive to the city wasn't bad. Maybe thirty minutes. It was odd seeing the yellow billboard with the word 'Rogers' in bold. Sure Steve had made a major impact on the world, but both Catherine and Bucky knew that he would have hated the statue being made in his honor and the musical.
Tony, Natasha and Vision had not had such memorials being constructed in their honor. Natasha would have not wanted one. Tony probably would. Vision, she wasn't so sure. Catherine had often talked to Bucky about doing something for the fallen members of the Avengers, but no thought in her mind seemed worthy enough for those they had lost.
After Bucky parked the car, they both got out and walked to the front of the building. The two of them tried their best to keep their heads down and not gain any attention.
"Catherine! Bucky!" They heard Scott shout.
So much for being inconspicuous. They watch Scott approach the two of them with his daughter, Cassie next to him. He had an excited smile on his face. Catherine gave them both a small hug while Bucky just stuck with a smile.
"I'm so glad you guys came. This is going to be great!" He told the two of them.
The four of them were then escorted to their seats by security. All around them people were staring and murmuring. It had to look bad that they were about to watch the musical. Or maybe people thought they were simply curious. They were only in their seats for ten minutes before the lights dimmed indicating that the show was going to start soon.
