"Ahh. How peculiar."
The snowflake landed on her hand as she closely observed it before glancing up at the students in front of her, Kou was busy trying to make a snowman with Tiara, Yashiro was busy drawing on the delicate feathered snow with Aoi, and Y/n sat down on the snow tracing her finger on the snow before she was hit with a weak coercion on the back of her head.
She turned to face the person, revealing it was Hanako as she glared a little, making him flinch, she quickly looked at Teru and Akane who were talking to each other or, more pertinently, at Akane being put down by Teru because of Vice President Duties when they get back, Y/n threw a snowball at Hanako, successfully landing it on his face as she stuck her tongue out.
"The ignorant idiot ought to know who he's messing with."
She scoffed as she trampled the snow before feeling another hit to the head from behind and turning to face the council members as Teru beamed charmingly and Akane held up the snowball with a broad smirk that seemed to practically beg for a duel to be waived off.
She skillfully hurled the snowball at him in a mound that was somewhat larger than Akane's, which she then dusted off. Akane moaned in pain and pointed up at Teru.
"H... He suggested it."
When Teru gave him a warning look, he was met with a snowball on his forehead. Teru then huffed in amusement as he scooped up a snowball and readied his target at Y/n as she gesticulated, with the two embroiled in a pitched battle throwing snow at each other while the other was an apparition who knew she wouldn't get sick any time soon even in this weather except for the living.
They all returned inside as the sun slowly set, falling to the dawn sky, and the apparitions observed the mortals drinking hot cocoa to warm themselves up, even though, with cold floating bodies, they couldn't care less about being warm in the first place.
Y/n rubbed her eyes before bidding bye to Hanako as she went upstairs to the terrace, her fist supporting the weight of her face as her cheek rested on her hand as she gazed up at the moon; now that she thought about it, she never imagined the moon could be this gorgeous even from this distance.
"Mm.. Another year to us being dead."
Hanako muttered as the girl nodded in response as she sat on the ledge with her legs dangling from the height.
Nothing could change their lives as apparitions because they had contractual obligation to fulfill as school mysteries, but if anything could never change, it would be the commotion of their friends who live on the Near Shore.
The moonlight was merely shining over themselves as she inclined her head to achieve a better angle of the sight, her eyes straying before she unintentionally took out a hand as she started to frame the moon to herself, knowing how transparent they were even as ghosts.
The beauty of such elegance of something like moons and red roses was absolutely phenomenal in the days when she used to be No. 2 with that fakeness of the moon in her boundary just glistening and the roses contrasting the white and yellow colors as they gleamed.
She exhaled a breath of relief, which caused Hanako to turn to face her with a grin on his face and a light-hearted prod.
"What was that a sigh just now? Haha! Don't tell me you've had enough of today already."
She looked enraptured at first and then turned to face him, shaking her head and smiling slightly. "It's a huge shame we're not real people, isn't it?" She breathed out.
"I mean, you miss out on everything because you're tethered to the school as a mystery servicing and trying to protect a school. It's not the same, you know, the warmth of the sun... the breeze of the pastures as you wander around with the wind touching your skin, the subtle touch of humans as they hold your hand."
Hanako listened intently to his closest buddy while she played with her fingers, marveling to herself in the side.
He smiled and sighed as he did so. "You're wild, Kokkuri!"
"That's very magnanimous of you, No. 7." She sighed. "Hey, Y/n! Hanako!"
They both turned to the voice of Minamoto as Kou held his sister's hand securely as she marveled at the sights of Hanako and Y/n as Hanako slipped behind Kokkuri, making her glare steeply, "Tiara. This is Y/n and Hanako, the school mysteries who help the school."
"Mmm... Tiara Minamoto, huh?"
Y/n approached the child before kneeling down to her level, her hands reaching the child's small cheeks only to be greeted with a cold temperature as the apparition she is, she frowned slightly making Tiara caress Y/n's cheek as Y/n blinked at the child.
"Don't be sad! You're the best! Even Big Brother Teru thinks so too!"
The sound of Teru's name seemed to invoke him, and he quickly took Tiara and carried her as she started to cry and whine.
The touch of Tiara's hand on her cheek was undeniably something, though the warmth of her hand didn't exactly say much. Y/n looked down at her hands before a geunine soft smile decided to give in.
Maybe she didn't need the tenderness of people if she could feel their warmth.
"He reaally talks a lot about you, Y/n!" She huffed and shook her head as Kou murmured something in her ear, a look of mirth plastered on her face.
"Are you quite certain that you want to tell me this information? Your brother will find out." She arched an eyebrow as Kou quickly glanced about before nodding.
"He's been so clingy...!"
She stroked Kou's head and shook her head in accord with Kou's statements before casting a quick glance over at Hanako.
"I see. You humans have a special day today, don't you? Give him my sincere thanks for the time being. He might feel more pride as a result than he does right now."
