Roar

Phoenix was a lot of things, but being a good lier was far from one. Sure Phoenix could lie, to her sister and family they believe her, because Phoenix was a terrible lier. She constantly mess with her rings, she chew the inside of her cheek and stutter.

A dead give away.

Bringing the small slim device to her lips Phoenix sucked in until her eyes watered, her lungs couldn't open any more and her throat burned, the taste of sweets on her tongue. Bringing the device away from her lips her head leaning against the wall, and her eyes shutting as she slowly let the smoke out before quickly inhaling it again.

But maybe that's what made her a great lier? Because people could catch the little things when she lied, so when she truly did lie most believe it as a truth.

The shack door opened as the girl blew the smoke out, her eye peeking open when Xavier smiled lightly at her. "Most people text before showing up" the boy smiled as he uncovered his lastest project. Phoenix nodded wiping under her eyes with the dark sleeves. "Don't have you number" the girl mumbled weakly her eyes trained on how his hands delicately moved back and forth, the paint evening nearly perfectly. "Then ask for it, sunshine" the boy smirked opening his phone for the girl to type her contact into. A small smile on her face as he turned away.

Gently the girl typed in her number along with the contact name being, 'sunshine<3' a small smile on her face as she gave the boy his phone back. "Now why are you in here sunshine? Last time you came in here you said that it was creepy, and not the good kind" he smirked looking over his shoulder, at the girl who shrugged looking at the small device in her hands.

"Needed to be away from her" the brunette shrugged bringing the device back to her soft pink lips, that seemed to never be chapped. "From Wednesday?" The boy questioned softly as he dipped his brush into the light brown paint. "Yeah I suppose" the girl mumbled under her breath as she blew the smoke towards the ground, her eyes drooping.

"She always has to say something fucked then expects my help" the girl shrugged crossing her legs over one another, scanning over the canvas that the Thorpe boy stepped away from looking down to it. Trying to match it with the girls face.

Nodded the boy gently swiped at her cheek wiping away the tear streaks that fell down her eyes. "That why you were crying?" The boy questioned with a frown setting down his paint tools standing Infront of the girl who shrugged nodding never less.

"Is that what this if for? A distraction?" The boy mumbled tapping the device in her hands, Phoenix hated how he could so easily read her even when she had her eyes so dead he could still read her like a book. "We all need distractions, princess" he shrugged as the girl nodded her eyes welling with tears. "stop being nice" the girl scuffed her voice slightly cracking as she spoke, her head down as tears threatened to fall. "would you prefer me to be mean?"

Silence. The silence made him frown, his eyes trying to find hers. Slowly his arms wrapped around the girls body pulling her into his chest. Standing in-between the girls legs his arms tightly wrapped around her, Phoenix gently rested her head on his shoulder with a sniffle trying to force the tears down.

"I hate crying" the girl stated into his chest, her shutting and her body relaxing against his own. "It's an emotion princess it's completely normal" he stated as he ran his hands through her long hair.

"I hate it though, makes me look weak" she mumbled her arm tightening suddenly craving the touch of his skin. The scent of his cologne that made her weak, or the steady beat of his heart. Or perhaps the feeling of safety that being in his arms provided.

The way his hair messily fell over his eyes when he didn't have it tied back. She craved everything he was giving her. She craved his touch like water in the dessert.
